Bar Harbor was a great vacation- definitely recommend. We spent three full days in town and did lots of excursions. We did the Puffin & Lighthouse tour and the Whale Watching tour. Both of those were amazing experiences, and the company even provided discounts in town for meals afterwards. You should know it costs money to park anywhere downtown in Bar Harbor! They use a meter/app to run this cost. We found it was worth it to lodge near town and just walk in. Bar Harbor was a cute tourist spot, but there was a focus on nature and conservation, which was appreciated. Grabbing food or ice cream in town and enjoying the view of the harbor was breathtaking, especially at sunset. The proximity to Acadia National Park was the big reason we stayed, but we fell in love with Bar Harbor! Definitely recommend!Guest review byRachelUnited States - 10.0
This island town is a must see… there is never enough time...
This island town is a must see… there is never enough time to do all of what you wish. I wish we had had a solid week of just hiking the different trails, but we split our time between Bar Harbor and the town of Surry. The towns people were extremely welcoming and we enjoyed the Margaret Todd Sunset cruise, kayaking on the bay and hiking around Jordan‘s Pond. The visit to Thunder Hole as well as Cadillac Mountain was a thrilling part of our travels. We will be coming back for years to come.Guest review byJackieUnited States - 10.0

I expected Bar Harbor to be much more cheap/tacky of a tourist hub than it was. Everything was pricey but good quality and more thoughtful than I expected. All the food we had was very good and there are many sea/farm to table non-chain restaurant options. Bar Harbor is beautiful, compact and near national park. Ate both meals at Bar Harbor Inn, fantastic views and food. Shopped on main street, many souvenir shops, not cutesy stuff I expected. Took small road trip to tip of island to visit lighthouse, well worth the short trip. Drinks at Ivy inn (missed the music, ends at 5p) but nice people watching. Loved the close proximity to Acadia NP which was main reason for coming up to Bar Harbor. Shops were fun, restaurants were mixed. Did not enjoy traveling with my daughter in law we got lost every time we went somewhere, but that is not your fault. We fell in love with the hotel and the Island so much that we actually canceled our trip to Boston and stayed at the Atlanta Eyrie for the remainder of our honeymoon instead. All of the receptionists were incredibly accommodating and made our stay that much more enjoyable.
