Very poor experience. No receptionist when we arrived — waited a long time with no help, and no one answered our calls. We booked as a couple but were given two single beds. Towels and bed sheets were dirty. Unprofessional and unhygienic. I do not recommend this hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Like many British seaside resorts Bournemouth looks outdated...

Like many British seaside resorts Bournemouth looks outdated compared to its European competition. It could be so much better with a bit more investment in the infrastructure but that comment is true of just about everywhere on the UK coast - and I've been to all parts. Like many other places Bournemouth is too car centric. Based on the places I visited, restaurants, shops, cafes etc, on this visit and on previous visits there is also a bit of "that'll do" culture rather than a genuine attempt to provide visitors with a truly memorable experience. Perhaps because of the volume of visitors in Summer businesses have got into the mindset of we don't really need to try that hard.

We spent a weekend in Bournemouth and enjoyed it.

We spent a weekend in Bournemouth and enjoyed it. The beach was great and our accommodation was close to the town centre. One day, we went for an excursion. We travelled to Poole by train and to Swanage by boat. It was a beautiful day! It was sad to see that so many hotels are not used anymore as hotels, and many of those buildings are badly deteriorating, which spoils the look of the town. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in the town and in the area.

I know Bournemouth well, having stayed there frequently over the years. I like the central area, and the East and West Cliffs, and the beaches. There are also delightful towns to visit nearby - Poole, Wimborne, Christchurch. I also like to go to the Isle of Purbeck, using the Sandbanks-Shell Bay ferry. The local bus company is superb, offering frequent helpful services.

A lovely seaside town with a beautiful clean beach and clear water. It is a very popular place so best during the week outside the school holidays. It can be a problem if you need beakfast before 9am, as most places only open at 9am. We had breakfast at Pret which was excellent. We had dinner at the Harvester on the beachfront which was good but service very slow due to staff sickness and being extremely busy.

I liked the scenery around the whole town.

I liked the scenery around the whole town. A nice beach, town centre, gardens, woodland, facilities for all types of people. Everywhere is mostly clean and tidy and friendly. I spend a lot of time running, swimming and cycling and Bournemouth is a great place to experience this. The transport links around town are reliable and everything is pretty much within walking distance. I liked the beach, museum, art gallery, the pier, Athletics track and various gardens. The roads were not too busy, which was good for running.

Sue, the proprietor was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I needed Oat Milk and it was supplied. The breakfast was the best we have ever had. The choice was Continental, Full English or both, top quality. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, with ensuite facilities. There was off road parking available. The hotel is just a 5 min walk from the beach and town, also just 45 min walk along seafront to Bournemouth. We will definitely be coming back...

Staff were very friendly, the swimming pool is a bit small but perfect for a quick dip, especially if you have children. It is only a few minutes walk to the nearest beach but about a 10 min walk in to the center of Bournemouth. Hotel has a designated car park right behind it. Although check in wasnt until 3pm, we arrived around midday and had no problem finding a space however, we know some people arrived closer to the check in and no spaces were available.

Easily the best hotel that I have stayed in when I visit Bournemouth and I've stayed in quite a few different hotels over the last few months. Great value for money, large rooms, really comfortable beds and facilities. A five minute walk from the town centre and the beach. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. I've stayed here twice and will be booking again.
