As a City, Frankfurt is actually very compact.
As a City, Frankfurt is actually very compact. We only really understood this when we visited, having booked 7 nights/8 days there. But, as our Hotel was only a few minutes from the main Railway Station,we were able to spend a couple of days exploring nearby cities to compensate for that. We LOVED the skyscrapers..The Viewing deck on Main Tower was one of the best we`ve been on.Spectacular views. The riverside is lovely to walk along, and there are boat trips along it too,should you wish to choose one. The City is VERY green, particularly Palmengarten,the botanical gardens and The Zoo (We spent over 4 hours at the Zoo) EuroparkGarten is well worth a visit,as is The Skyline Plaza. There are MANY Museums.. We visited the Shock Headed Peter Museum,which was fascinating,and were totally blown away by the Museum of Communication, where we reckon enthusiasts could have easily spent a full day. Hearing all this praise about Germany, I wasn't impressed... Frankfurt was dirty and smelly, the public transport was late by at least 15 minutes every single time, with lacking/badly made directions. I really enjoyed the booked Walking tour - there is more to Frankfurt than you first think. After the tour, you are able to return to places that were on the tour and appreciate why the city is as it is. Frankfurt is a great city. So many great museums that you need a couple of days to visit them. Walking a long the river is a must and also enjoying the old new city. It is a nice city worth visiting.
It is a nice city worth visiting. It has a very good new mall - Galleria in the center with a very good grocery store at the low level. Its art museum Stadel is of the world class. It has Vermeer, Rembrandt, unusual Holbein and more. It has a nice river boat cruise on the river Main, an intetesying Cathedral and a beautiful old Romer district.
