Read moreThe best time to visit Brazil is from September to October. This lets you avoid the busiest holiday periods, the harsh winters in the south, and the peak of the wet season. Brazil’s warmest months are also its wettest, so it’s generally best to avoid the high season between December and March, particularly if you’re planning on wildlife watching in the Amazon or the Pantanal, which are best visited between July and September. Rio’s world-famous Carnaval takes place in February or early March, and it’s without a doubt one of the most unforgettable parties you can attend. If you’re into windsurfing or kiteboarding, a trip to São Miguel do Gostoso, Taiba, or Cumbuco offer great conditions between May and February.

Monthly weather and travel tips for Brazil
It's the peak of summer in January, and with average temperatures around 80ºF, it’s certainly worth considering a trip to the beach. However, it can get very rainy this month so be sure to check forecasts and figure out whether you’ll need a beach towel or umbrella.
The maritime procession in Angra dos Reis onJanuary 1st is a great way to see in the new year, as thousands of boats parade along the water. Three Kings Day, celebrated on January6th, brings celebrations featuring musical performances and dancing to many cities across the country. The warm January weather means this is a prime time to visit Rio and Copacabana which offer a party atmosphere without the huge carnival crowds of February.

Crowd levels peak in February, but if you’re content to jostle, you’ll be able to attend one of the best parties on the planet. The weather remains hot and rainy with scorching temperatures of up to 95ºF, so pack light layers and waterproofs.
Carnivals are held in lots of major cities like São Paulo and Salvador, but the most famous of all takes place in Rio de Janeiro. The event takes place in February or early March for the 5 days before Ash Wednesday. Join millions of partiers to watch the top dance schools in the country perform the samba during dazzling parades of colors, costumes, and music.

It’s still high season in most of Brazil as temperatures continue to hover around 100°F. Carnival celebrations may still be occurring in major cities if Ash Wednesday falls in March, so be prepared for extra crowds if so. If the latter celebration isn’t happening, this month can be more pleasant if you just want to explore different parts of the country, but the possibility of summer storms means you’ll want to pack waterproofs and a good umbrella along with light layers.
The annual Brazilian Beer Festival takes place in Blumenau every March over 4 days, with local and international breweries offering you the chance to try over 140 types of beer. If there are no carnival crowds around, head to São Paulo to treat your palate to some of the best food in the country or soak up some of the over 2,400 miles of shoreline which includes wonderful spots like Alter do Chao in Pará or the volcanic archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.

As temperatures and crowd numbers begin to drop, April can be a very pleasant month to visit many parts of Brazil. The Pantanal enters its dry season towards the end of the month, and Holy Week brings a number of religious celebrations, as well as a chance to try some homemade chocolate eggs. Heavy rain tends to continue in most regions and temperatures average between 65–85ºF.
While Holy Week festivities take place across the country, the celebrations in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais are some of the most notable, as the city covers itself in flowers and colorful carpets laid on the streets. Other popular Holy Week events are found in Cidade de Goiás, Congonhas, and São João del Rei. Lollapalooza Brasil usually takes place on the first weekend of April in São Paulo and gives you the chance to catch the biggest names in rock, hip hop, and electronic music over three days.

This period between the rainy season (February to April) and the hot, dry season (September to November) is a good time to explore the Amazon, when you have the best opportunities for boat trips and hiking in pleasant weather.
The celebrations of Carnival and Holy Week may have passed, but there’s still plenty of events taking place in Brazil. São Paulo hosts Virada Cultural Paulistana – the biggest 24-hour festival in the world. Not only is it free to get in, but you’ll be able to attend various events around the city such as live music performances and films. The coastal town of Torres is also worth visiting for its annual International Ballooning Festival. Along with lots of hot-air enthusiasts, it’s also home to concerts, films, and extreme sports like skydiving.

July is Brazil’s coldest month, so no matter which part of the country you visit it’s best to bring a warm coat for the evening. Average temperatures fall between 53 and 82ºF, still warm enough to enjoy the beaches of Rio in the southeast, the tropical wetlands of the Pantanal, and the Amazon rainforest. School holidays last for practically the entire month so expect most attractions to be busier than usual.
Despite the cooler weather, Brazil keeps the spirit of summer alive with a variety of fun events, such as the Campos do Jordão Winter Festival which features a whole month of live performances. There’s also FLIP (Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty) between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where literary lovers can attend workshops, lectures, and debates. Mountain regions are most popular at this time, as locals enjoy indoor skiing, hiking,or sightseeing in places such as the Serra Gaúcha and the hills of Rio.

Comfortable temperatures and minimal rainfall make August one of the best times to visit Brazil. You might want to consider exploring the Pantanal where you have a good chance of spotting jaguars basking on the banks of lakes and rivers. Daytime temperatures tend to be around the mid 70s but can fall drastically in the evening so be sure to bring a good coat.
The southern town of Gramado holds its annual international film festival in August, when the best offerings of Brazilian and other Latin American films of the year are showcased over 9 days. In the midwest, the week-long Bananada music festival takes place in Goiânia, transforming the town into a hub of alternative music, culture, food, and even skateboarding championships.

The biggest bands take to the stage, with past headliners including Elton John, Guns N’Roses, and Rihanna. To soak up some early spring colors, head to the charming city of Holambra – the largest producer of flowers and ornamental plants in Latin America. Oktoberfest comes to many of Brazil’s cities in a big way, particularly in Blumenau where a big parade leads into over two weeks of beer drinking and folk music – the second-biggest celebration after the original Munich festival. By the mouth of the Amazon River, Belém's Círio de Nazaré parade centers around a small statue of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré (Our Lady of Nazareth), which is carried past millions of pilgrims on a flower-filled carriage. Temperatures begin to rise with averages between 60º and 95ºF, as does the rainfall. Don’t let the unpredictable weather of this shoulder month put you off. There’s still plenty to see and do in Brazil.
São Paulo hosts one of the most important events of the sporting calendar in November when the Brazilian Grand Prix comes to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace circuit in the Interlagos neighborhood. Christmas and warm weather mean December is a busy month in Brazil. Average temperatures tend to be between 66º and 95ºF, but the return of the wet season sees rainfall across much of the country.

Known as Carnatal, it brings together crowds who dance through streets alongside trucks equipped with giant sound systems, known as trios elétricos. The Comic Con Experience arrives in São Paulo for 3 days in December, full of exhibitions and artists related to the biggest comics, TV series, films, and video games. As Christmas nears, cities are decorated in beautiful lights, but few more so than Gramado during its Natal Luz festival. You’ll also be able to enjoy a lakeside concert full of entertainers and dazzling special effects. To ring in the new year in style, join millions of white-clad partygoers on Copacabana Beach in Rio on December 31st for an incredible fireworks display and lots of live music.

Brazil’s summer takes place between December and March, with the heat becoming more intense the farther north you go. If you’re looking to enjoy hiking and sightseeing in major cities like Rio during the cooler period between May and September offer better conditions. In the shoulder periods of April and October, expect it to be chilly in the south with dry and warmer weather along the coastal areas farther north. To avoid the harsh winters in the south and the peak of the wet season, plan your trip between September and October.

Meu lugar favorito foi o Complexo Bohemia, o tour é divertido. Experimentei as comidas do Luka's, Outbêco e Luigi. O churrasco misto do Luka's foi meu favorito. Andar por Petrópolis é bem tranquilo, tudo é próximo.
We stayed one nighton Argentina side of falls and one night on Brazil side. Did not feel rushed. Use a driver to cross border. Much, much quicker and seamless.
Had a great time. I had other destination as a part of this trip so I will probably return to Rio at a future date.
What a great city with diversity in neighborhoods, landscapes, food and entertainment options. Loved the laid back friendly vibe from the locals. Would definitely enjoy going back! Rio Vermelho it's a great area for walking around and live music!
While you do have to be aware of your safety Rio is a really cool place. We did get up to Christ the Redeemer and also did a walking tour downtown. Get a guide in Rio - you’ll see more and be safer.
We loved Guaeca and Barqueçaba beaches. We ate at A Trattoria in the historical centre of town, very charming.
I did not get to see much of the city as I worked every day. The people at the hotel were great, and the local food was fantastic.
Christ Redeemer,Sugarloaf, beach. The culture of Brazil, the samba dances, the food. All of these plus the breathtaking location make this place extraordinary
Lovely you don't need a tour unless you are going to do a boat tour. Buy your tickets in advance, just easier that way. You don't need a rain poncho unless it's chilly, if it's hot and you don't mind getting wet everything will dry within an hour. It's refreshing in the summer!
I agree with those who recommend doing the Argentina and the Brazilian Falls on different days. I would suggest doing the Bird Park and Brazilian falls on day one and then the Argentina side. The Argentina side is a long day, especially when it is hot as it was for us. Argentina side is more impressive than the Brazilian side. Wish we could have spent another day in Foz to see some other sites. We really enjoyed the Latin Dance and dinner show on our last night.
Morro do Moreno, o Convento, bares e restaurantes valem a pena.
Saco do Ceu is a very well protected bay. I traveled there in my sailboat and did not worry about the boat being safe at night. Nice muddy bottom for anchoring and protected from the wind. The trail around the bay is a nice walk although a flashlight is needed at night is some areas. The restaurants have excellent food and great menu choices. The East side of the bay has a nice little beach. The West end is a tidal flat but has a long dock for securing your dingy.
Abraao and Ilha Grande in general are just beautiful places. I didn't realize how expensive things would be there in comparison to the rest of Brazil. I would probably not return for that reason, only because there are so many beautiful beaches and places to visit all over Brazil that are not as expensive.
We stayed 2 nights in Atins, but I think 3 or 4 would have been better. My advice for adventurous travelers would be to skip Barrerinhas and Santo Amaro altogether. Bite the bullet and make it all the way to Atins on your first day if you can, then just relax and enjoy all the place has to offer. It's difficult to get to, but that's exactly what makes it special and preserves a feeling of 'untouched' that is hard to come by nowadays.
Once it was a business trip, I had no time for walkabouts. Otherwise I know Sao Luis from other trips and I would recommend it for other travelers. Good food. Historical places. Nice people.
Despite being expensive, it is a Brazilian city that is well worth visiting because of the architectural, climatic and cultural contrast with the rest of the country. It has good leisure options, many options for culinaire and at some seasons of the year the cultural options are the highlight. The city is small, so don't expect all the services you would find in a metropolis, but it has more options than would be expected for a Brazilian city of 46k inhabitants.
Tudo do mesmo, nada de mais. Cidade abandonada pelo poder público, logo ficará inacessível.
Melhor cidade para acessar as lagoas de águas cristalinas. Recomendo.
Cristo perfect . The botanical garden bad if you go to late and don t bring spray for mosquitoes.
Supera as expectativas, staff, limpeza, organização, rapidez.
The city is immaculate, with decent food choices and friendly people. Restaurants often face challenges with closing during part of the day, and, like most inner-city areas, many establishments close early.
Fantastic City! If you're cool and also can bring a good vibe, you should come!
Passeios maravilhosos.
Cool place, relaxing atmosphere, friendly people. Muita Paz arranged not only the transfer from Sao Luis airport, but also 4x4 truck tour, horseback ride, quadricycle ride, etc. All the tours are totally worth taking
Manaus is an amazing city and the perfect gateway to the Amazon experience! From jungle tours to river cruises, it offers a unique mix of nature and culture. The city itself is vibrant, full of history, and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. A must-visit for any adventurer!
Amazing culture and food, go there during June and participate in all the festivities of São João.
Porto Alegre is a great city. It is nice to see that the areas affected by 2024 tragedy have been completed restored. Food is superb. The meat is specially superior to other places in Brazil. The parks are well maintained, downtown still has a comercial stance. I could find great food shops as well as fine restaurants in Mercado Público. The Guaíba margin contains a nice park besides restaurants and bars. Downtown has several historical buildings and bookshops.
The Grand Hotel Termas de Araxa is an amazing beautiful place. We were able to get day passes. Highly recommend the Grand Hotel for an unforgetable experience. The staff was fenomenal. Friendly and helpful every single employee we interacted with. The only downside is that the Burle Marx forest has not been maintained. Its important to value that small piece of national patrimony!!!
Sugar Loaf, Ipanema beach and Bothanical Garden were my favorite spots in Rio!
Sao Paulo is a unique experience. It is a challenging city, simply because it is so huge. But it is infinitely interesting, brimming with energy and a wide variety of things to do. As with the rest of Brazil, the people make the experience a real joy.
Mucugê is a captivating town in Bahia that exudes charm and history at every corner. Nestled in a scenic setting, the town showcases well-preserved colonial architecture and a warm, inviting atmosphere that truly reflects Brazil's rich cultural heritage. The winding streets, vibrant local community, and breathtaking natural landscapes make Mucugê a perfect destination for travelers looking to experience authentic historical beauty and a relaxed pace of life.
Generally the stay was great i’ll come back for sure. What I didn’t like was the uber drivers. 2 of them scammed me. 1 declared I didn’t pay in full, the other one I paid R$100 for a R$68 fare and said the change will reflect as uber credits. I’d like to note that generally Rio uber drivers accelerate and brake hard and cuts off other cars but that might be just their culture. This is the same from uber x - black.
There are some very nice restaurants in the main town square of Trancoso. However, some of them tend to be quite pricey. It is very quaint and pretty, but in general, the infrastructure is very poor so walking around was not very easy- sidewalks are cracked or not there, it gets very muddy when it rains- a bit difficult for pedestrians. The beach is not so accessible but once you are there, it is a lovely beach!
I like to visit Curitiba. It is a big city with a lot of entertainment. The City is plenty of green areas and malls and culture places besides great restaurants and coffes shops.
Capital of the state with many, many options to choose from. Eating, drinking and night out offer a large variety of options.
The place I was well located and access to other place was easy by subway, options for eating very easy, was a little dirty street with some garbage and some bad smells, but I felt safely since there are a good movimento of people.
RIO DE JANEIRO is beautiful. Nice and friendly people. It's a big city, so, take care. Beaches, Food, Sunsets, Mountains...you must visit!!
Cidade encantadora, praias lindas, paisagens deslumbrantes.
A cidade ofereceu boa hospedagem e boa gastronomia!
Gramado is a very beautiful and friendly little town with an exciting night life, a lot of different places to visit and excellent restaurants and bars. As the town is very safe you can walk everywhere anytime you please. The typical food is rich in flour and delicious!
The falls are the most incredible experience. The best in the world to see, enjoy and admire
The location and the faclities around, super nice and easy to go anywhere. But the room was dirty, especially under the bed, but very dirty and the bathroom without lamps, darkness.
A cidade é linda demais, super solar.
Rio has something for all tastes: Beachgoers, history lovers, lovers of fine cuisine, nature lovers, music lovers, etc. I, personally, enjoy the lovely glimpses of beautiful architecture throughout the city. I've travelled all over Brazil, but there is nothing like the Rio vibe and the hospitality of the cariocas.
Amazing place! I haven’t been to Sao Paulo’s north coast before and was surprised about how beautiful it is. We loved the beaches, the nature surrounding, etc. We really recommend it and would love to come back one day.
Atins é um lugar paradisíaco. Vale o deslocamento longo para chegar.
Cidade ótima pra comprar malhas, artigos de couro e itens alimentícios típicos do "interior" (queijos, doces, bolachinhas, etc).
Fortaleza is a great tropical city to vacation. Weather is warm but not to humid. Many good restaurants at a fair price. People there are friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my time there.
Cidade muito pequena e agradável, típica do interior. Muito sossego e segurança. Comida boa e preços dentro do esperado.
It is exceptional city with very nice views of beaches and mountains. Do not be afraid of safety. Follow caution and use maximum public transport or uber. Stay closer to safer neighborhoods like Botafogo and it will be fine.
I love this city and it's scenery. Lots of history to unfold as you tour. I recommend everyone visit this city.
Porto de Galinhas' town needs to create more structures for chemical toilet all over the beaches for users.
Espírito Santo do Pinhal is a must for wine enthusiasts. The wineries are outstanding!
Trancoso é muito lindo!!! Não imaginava ver tanta beleza!!! Praias lindas, pessoas simpáticas e o quadrado a noite é incrível!!
