Objekt Rivergold Cottage smješten je u Ivalu i nudi vrt i privatnu plažu. Beautiful cottage. It’s a way out of town (check the map) we didn’t have a car but Miia kindly arranged pickup and drop off with a stop at the shops for food. I absolutely loved my stay but I’ve detailed a few differences with this cottages to what you might expect so that you can get an accurate impression. The most important thing is the cottage does not have running water or a bathroom. You will need to bring drinking water, and water for washing/dishes/sauna is hand pumped from a well outside. There is an outside composting toilet, which is perfectly fine and was not difficult to use even as I was there in winter… I just needed to put on a jacket and shoes and was comfortable. The stairs are very steep, not suitable for anyone unsteady on their feet. Downstairs is the bunk bed. Upstairs has a double bed and a single bed (no walls or doors though, it’s an open mezzanine level). Wood for the fire is included and you use dried bark as the firelighters. The central heating kept the house warm even without the fire. The Sauna is attached to the side of the house and uses a wood fire. It takes a couple of hours to heat up. There is also a big water tank in the sauna which uses a wood fire beneath to heat up, you can use this water for washing in the sauna. The instructions state only to use one lot of wood under the tank which was good advice as it got very hot and any more would have made it boil which would be dangerous. Miia also gave us use of a battery powered camping shower so we could wash easily. The cottage is on the river which is completely frozen over winter. It is walking distance from Villa Karhukumpu which we used for activities, where Jrki the owner was very kind and helpful. Overall I found Miia to be extremely helpful as a host, and the place is as beautiful as the pictures.

Perfect spot to spend a few nights with friends and explore the Ivalo and Inari area. The kitchen is very well-equipped, the living room is cozy and the bedrooms are comfortable. Bed linen and towels are provided. We had an issue with the sauna and the host was very responsive and made her best to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Highly recommend!

Set a 5-minute drive from Ivalo town centre, Ivalo River Camping offers heated cottages with shared kitchen facilities in the summer time, free parking and free WiFi. Oh, Ivalo River Camping! What can I say about this place? It was an incredible place to stay, and I can’t believe I witnessed the breathtaking northern lights there. It was a magical moment, and the view was simply stunning, right above the property. I had no regrets at all. The amenities were top-notch, and I loved the proximity of the bathrooms to the rooms. They were spotlessly clean, to the point where you couldn’t find a single trace of dirt or a corner that wasn’t gleaming. I am so grateful for the exceptional staff at this establishment. They were incredibly professional and made my experience one of the best I’ve ever had. They are always ready to assist me with taxi services or even help me book activities at a safari that they have access to. As a side note, make sure to always have a lot of taxi numbers handy, just in case. Also, keep in mind that taxis don’t operate after 12 p.m., so ensure that you complete all your tasks before that time. I highly recommend visiting the diner and trying their reindeer kebab and cheeseburger.
