“The average spend at business events in Britain is up 75% since 2017 – and destinations like Wales are helping drive that growth.” 💼📈 We caught up with Paul Black from VisitBritain at The Meetings Show to reflect on their 2024 Delegate Spend Report – and what it means for Wales. From increased overnight stays to stronger alignment with leisure tourism, business events are delivering more impact than ever. And with sector strengths in cyber, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and life sciences, Wales is punching above its weight in attracting international congresses and trade shows. Paul also reminded us of something we know well: Wales isn’t just a place to meet – it’s a place to experience. From coastlines to culture, sport to song, the Welsh offer a warm, unforgettable welcome. Thanks to Paul and the VisitBritain team for the insights – and for recognising the role Wales plays in powering the UK’s £33.6bn business events industry. #MeetInWales #eventprofs #BusinessEventsWales #VisitBritain #EventProfsUK #MICE #AssociationMeetings

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our State of the Nation event at the Palace of Westminster on Tuesday. We’ve received such fantastic feedback, and holding this important event at the heart of government demonstrates our intent and beam’s focus to get our members voices heard. A big thank you to Mike Wood MP for hosting us, and to Jack Rankin MP and Rachel Taylor MP for your valuable contributions. We're also grateful to Robert Wright from The Business of Events for facilitating the event and helping guide the discussion around the table and to Paul Black from VisitBritain for your updates. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲? 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. And if we continue to collaborate and speak with one collective voice, we can build greater understanding of the power and potential of the Business Events sector. There’s so much to be positive about, especially considering the huge progress made over the past six months through the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events. At beam, we’ll continue to champion a collaborative approach and work with others to ensure government truly recognises the vital role business events play in driving economic growth. As Jonathan Ashley-Cowan said at the event:  “𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘓𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴. Discussions will continue at the beam Annual Forum, taking place on 3rd–4th July at Novotel London West, where Jack Rankin MP will join us again to discuss the role of our sector in supporting business, tourism, innovation, inclusion, and regional growth. 👉 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘁? • This week we were delighted to welcome Perfect (China) Co., Ltd. and their 8-day tour group of 2,000 visitors to Britain, working with CTG MICE Service Company Limited. The programme comprised of two simultaneous itineraries, including the “Highlights Tour” visiting London, Oxford and surrounding areas, and the “Scenic Wonders Tour” visiting Edinburgh and London. Visitors had the opportunity to see our world-famous attractions, participate in academic and cultural exchanges and team building sessions, as well as experience traditional English afternoon tea and Scottish whiskey! Our Head of Business Events, Paul Black was honoured to join their business conference and celebratory Gala at Excel London on Tuesday. Trips such as these drive significant growth to the UK economy and are a vital component of the #businessevents sector. Thank you to all involved for choosing #Britain and for a wonderful Gala evening!
