“During my internship on the “AI Copilot based use cases for leveraging & optimizing cloud deployments” project using the Google Cloud Platform, I was tasked with designing and implementing reinforcement-learning–based autoscaling agents. These agents dynamically adjust CPU and memory resources in response to real and synthetic workload traces. The core challenge was to learn policies that minimize performance degradation (under-provisioning) and cost overruns (over-provisioning) under highly variable telemetry data. This experience bridged theory and practice: from environment modeling and algorithm implementation to experimentation and cross-team integration with LLM and ML teams. “The experience so far as an intern at Tech Mahindra has been incredibly enriching and inspiring. I’m grateful for the journey and the learning opportunities I’ve had along the way. Our project focuses on shelf monitoring in retail using AI technology—a real-world use case aimed at improving customer experience and reducing client losses. We’ve been working on developing intelligent systems that can detect issues such as product misplacement, damage, or empty shelves. One of the key outcomes of our work has been a Streamlit-based web application that sends real-time alerts to store staff whenever such anomalies are detected. This proactive approach helps ensure better shelf management and quicker resolution of issues, ultimately benefiting both customers and retailers. Throughout this internship, I’ve had the privilege of working under the mentorship of Amit Jindal and Anshul Singh, and under the supervision of our manager, Sanjeev Sherry. Their guidance and support have played a vital role in shaping my technical and professional growth. I’ve learned a great deal about computer vision, machine learning, deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, and how to build interactive AI-powered applications using Python and Streamlit. More importantly, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how these technologies can be applied to solve real-world problems in a collaborative and agile work environment. This internship has not only strengthened my technical foundation but also fueled my passion for innovation and data-driven problem-solving.
