39000 NPTEL Beneficiaries and Counting: Sutherland's Continued Impact with NPTEL Indian Institute of Technology, Madras since 2021 We were delighted to host Sutherland, our esteemed CSR donor, at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras for a meaningful interaction with student beneficiaries of the NPTEL Exam Fee Waiver Program. Sutherland has been supporting NPTEL year on year from 2021 and has benefited 9500+ students every year from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to access high-quality certification courses through NPTEL. A heartfelt thank you to Sutherland for joining us and inspiring the student community with a vision for inclusive education. Together, we’re building bridges to opportunity. Most of the student beneficiaries are first-generation college students belonging to agricultural family backgrounds from locations such as Thanjavur, Ranipet, Palakkad, Bhimavaram, Madurai and Virudhanagar from TN, AP and Kerala states. These NPTEL Star students have completed more than 5 NPTEL courses each and also have top scores in more than 1 course. Considering the students’ family backgrounds, their accomplishments reflect not only individual drive but also the transformative power of learning access and institutional support. 🌟 Gokulpriya’s journey proves: A pause in your path doesn’t mean the end — it can be a powerful new beginning. From a five-year break to a PhD at IIT Roorkee — NPTEL reignited her academic spark. 🎯 “Initially, I just wanted to attend one STAR meet,” she recalls. What began with one course during her MBA led to 23 NPTEL certifications, 10 STAR titles, and 2 domain certifications — with her husband even joining her for the ride! Her dedication led her to become the first-ever NPTEL Pre-Doctoral Fellow to convert the opportunity into a full-time PhD in Marketing. 💬 “To every woman wanting to restart her career — it’s never too late,” she says.
