It seems that the internal jsoo might be using a full-blown version of ppx_optcomp (that supports the
[%%if]...[%%endif]syntax. In #7 all of the below patches were removed but it seems they are back and breaking the build. Perhaps there's another set of patches that make jsoo depend on ppx_optcomp directly?
