This has some unfortunate repetition in, as there's some code in common between both OCaml 5.4 and OxCaml 5.2.0+ox, but the code is enabled/disabled via cppo and it would require a bit of extra work to plumb the knowledge that we're using OxCaml though to the preprocessor.
