Installation failed by specifying the path #14886

Description
I don't want to lose my data from the previous Docker version, so I tried installing a new version by specifying a different installation directory. However, it seems that the new version cannot be installed unless the previous version is uninstalled, but that way I'll lose all the data.

Reproduce
Keep the previous version and install the new version by specifying a new path.
Expected behavior
I hope there's a way to force the installation to a new specified path, or at least provide a --force option, instead of just exiting with no alternatives.
