[BUG] : (linux) Sound will not come out from headset unless you start directly from Steam #963

@chrisrnj

Description

@chrisrnj

Issue encountered

When connecting to SteamVR through Steam Link and then launching Beat Saber through BS-Manager, the sound will forcibly come out through my headphones, even tho I have set Meta Quest as default audio output device.
A workaround I found was to disable Internal Audio Device and remove the headphones for it to work, but this issue does not happen at all if you launch Beat Saber through SteamVR dashboard, even with the headphones connected (maybe it's a proton variable issue?).

Image

Expected Behavior

The game should select the VR headset as the audio output.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run BS-Manager on a KDE Plasma DE
  2. Have headphones or whatever other audio device connected to your computer
  3. Connect to SteamVR through Steam Link
  4. Launch Beat Saber from BS-Manager
    The audio will not come out through Steam Link, even though it's set as default audio output (works perfectly if you launch the game through Steam).

Operating System

Linux

Version

1.5.4

Additional Context

Tested on both NixOS 25.11 and Fedora 43 KDE Plasma
