Can you tell me how? I can't find any visible setting in the ecode UI. Or am I misunderstanding something?

The slow/classical way: Settings/MenuBar -> Document -> File Type -> Pick the file type The quick way: Ctrl+K/Alt+1 type ft (and the lang name or search in the list + enter).

Does the setting persist? I mean after I close the file and quit ecode, the next time I open it, will ecode remember and use the file type I selected? Or I need to pick the file type again?

It's non-persistent. I've never had the need but feel free to create an issue with the feature request.

I don't know if other people like the idea or not, so instead of making it default I think it should be a setting. But I also know we can't stuff everything in the ecode UI or it will become a mess. So @SpartanJ, please just do what you think is good. Thank you.
