- Red Loctite
- Can be printed with smooth PLA, PETG, ABS class of materials. You may have to print couple of times to dial in tolerances
- -0.1mm XY expansion compensation might be needed on the gears
- ideally puzzle should be tight but possible to disassemble
- it should click on the steering shaft spline
- ideally it should slide on the steering shaft spline, but personally I gave up on this and I don't adjust my steering wheel distance
- Geared stepper + StepperServoCAN slide into the mounting case. Fix with M3x6 bolts. Also use a washer. Use threadlocker.
- D-shaft bore inserted into the small plastic gear slides on the gearbox shaft. Tighten the hex screws. Use threadlocker! The motor assembly is completed and should pretty much never need disassembly.
- Slide motor assembly on the steering column. Insert small hex key into a hole in the back to lock it in place.
- Pull steering wheel maximally toward you.
- Click first half of the puzzle gear on the spline. (Use leather glove for the extra force). If the spline has a little stamp on one of the lines, rotate the puzzle so that the assemble gear can slide back and forth over the little stamp.
- Slide the puzzle toward the motor. (Rotate steering wheel to allow for that). It may be a good idea to adjust your steering wheel position (length) to final position.
- Rotate the steering wheel back such that the puzzle meshes with the motor gear.
- Align the second puzzle angle according to the first one and click it on the spline. Again use a glove.
- Slide the puzzle toward the motor. It should merge with the first half to create the gear.
- Complete the assembly by wrapping a hose clamp around the motor and the plastic mount. It should be able to thread it through a hole in a steering column adjustment rail if the steering wheel is moved all the way toward you.
