About the Challenge
Event Overview
Garuda Hacks 6.0 is Indonesia's premier international hackathon taking place July 24-26, 2025, at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara. This 30-hour intensive coding marathon challenges participants to build innovative solutions that bring Indonesia's ideals closer to its lived reality.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we're dedicated to empowering young Indonesians with the skills and motivation to solve the country's most urgent issues. Since 2020, we've consistently hosted Southeast Asia's largest hackathons, helping thousands of students develop in both computer science and entrepreneurship.
Requirements
What to Build
Garuda Hacks 6.0 challenges you to create innovative, impactful tech solutions addressing Indonesia’s most pressing issues and reflecting the event’s theme: Identity Through Innovation. Your project can fall within these key focus areas:
🌱 Sustainability: Build technology to protect Indonesia’s environment, advance renewable energy, or promote sustainable communities.
🤝 Connecting Cultures: Create platforms or tools that bridge Indonesia’s diverse cultures and communities or highlight Indonesian heritage globally.
📚 Education and Equity: Develop apps, websites, or systems that expand education access, increase digital literacy, or drive equitable opportunities for all Indonesians.
What to Submit
When you’re ready to submit your project, make sure your submission is complete and clear. Your official Devpost submission should include:
1. Project Title & Tagline: A concise name and short phrase summarizing your solution.
2. Project Description:
o Problem addressed and its impact on Indonesia or the chosen theme
o Your innovative solution and how it works
o The technology stack used (e.g., frameworks, APIs, hardware)
o Major features and unique aspects
3. Demo Video:
o Maximum of 2-minute video demonstration (hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or similar)
o Show the working project, explain the core functionality, and walk through the user experience
4. Source Code:
o Public link to your code repository (e.g., GitHub, GitLab).
o Zip all of your code into one archive, upload it to Google Drive, make it public, and put the link to your drive on your submission.
5. Pitch Deck:
o A pitch deck is a concise, visual presentation used to communicate your project's value, impact, and potential to judges, mentors, and potential partners. (IMPORTANT)
6. Screenshots/Visuals:
o Images or GIFs to visually showcase your product’s UI or key features
7. Team Members:
o List all contributors and their roles
8. Instructions:
o Clear setup or deployment instructions for judges to test your project

20% - Assesses whether the project identifies a meaningful, relevant problem and offers a compelling, high-impact solution. -
Technical Fluency
30% - Evaluates how well the project is built, the suitability of the tech stack, and the team’s problem-solving depth. -
Design
25% - Considers the usability, accessibility, and visual/interaction quality of the project for its target audience. -
Creativity
15% - Judges the originality of the idea and whether it takes an innovative or unexpected approach to the problem. -
Presentation
10% - Looks at how clearly the team communicates their concept, process, and impact through their submission and demo. -
Incorporation of AI
BONUS +15% - Bonus Points are rewarded to teams that thoughtfully integrate AI or machine learning to enhance their solution. Simpler implementations are welcomed, and effort and intent are valued alongside complexity.
