Issue with Opera Notifications Opening New Window

With https://forums.opera.com/topic/83544/opera-notifications-appear-but-clicking-results-in-blank-new-window, the new window just showed the start page and didn't navigate to the URL for the notification. A bug (DNA-121271) was filed for that, but it was eventually dropped because things just started working again in Opera 118 and 119.

However, that only addressed the issue of the URL not loading in the new window and not the fact that it opened in a new window instead of a new tab in the current window.

Do you know when this started happening for you?

@RodSteel In regions where VPN is not available/allowed, VPN section in settings page is not available.

@PERUSKY That's because you have associated the file extension with Opera. You need to go to Windows settings and change it in the default app section.

@burnout426 oh thanks so very much! My mate knows all the tech stuff so he just told me to download Opera and like you said, he probably knew I was sync up or whatever you two know about these things.

If you change a password for a site that is already saved in your Password Manager, Opera will offer to update it for you, ensuring your saved information remains current.

Click Update to replace the old password with the new one.

Click No, thanks to dismiss the popup for this site.

Click the X to dismiss the popup for this session.

When you enter a new password on a website, a popup will appear asking if you’d like to save your credentials.

Click Save to store the password securely in your Password Manager.

Click Never to prevent Opera from asking to save a password for this specific site again.

Click the X to dismiss the popup for this session. Opera will ask again the next time you log in.

@hevrens After analysing the error message you sent, I see that .NET v8.0.16 is still missing. Please install .NET v.8.0.16 (https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-8.0.16-windows-x64-installer). Reboot your computer and then try updating the VPN Pro client again. This was proven to work in the majority of cases, so hopefully it will help.

@neoprana "Continue" in what way? That error message can occur for multiple reasons, all having to do with the security certificate associated with the website using https protocols. The "best" path forward depends on what is the actual reason behind the error, and those reasons can include anything from an improperly-constructed (or forged) cert, a bad browser extension, a problematic antivirus, a corrupted OS cert store, all the way to a genuine browser hiccup.

Since the stored certificate specifies the encryption mechanisms/keys needed to establish secure https communications with a given site, a valid and functioning cert will be needed by the system to visit the website in https - and the error message indicates there's a major problem with that cert. Otherwise, you need to use the unsecured http protocol to visit the site, assuming that connection exists.

Around this time, my Opera (regular) wouldn't start up. Since the same thing happened with Chrome in the past, I was like, "Maybe reinstall it?" And guess what? It worked! Just re-install Opera using the official website. And if you're using GX or Air, try that method too.

Generally, I believe functions like bookmarks and pinboards default to adding new entries into the last used folder already.

I have the exact same problem — I just deleted my My Flow too. Although I don't think the two are related.

Is there anything that can be done about this, or is what’s gone just gone forever?
