Interaction with big-headed ants (Pheidole sp.).
We’ve found four different species of Paussinae (three Paussus and one Pentaplatarthrus) at our house in Bloemfontein, but I’ve never seen their interaction with ants.
The beetle obviously didn’t resist being guided to the ants' nest, and calmly followed where the ant(s) led it (one ant did most of the work).
At one point they turned up the wall, but the ant had some trouble because the tile was smooth and the beetle had no foothold. It tried three times, and fell down. Then, either by coincidence or sheer genius, the ant led the beetle to the rough grout, where the beetle had more grip. Up they went, into a crack, which is probably where the ants’ nest is.

I observed these fleas climbing in the earwig Arixenia esau. I photographed this association inside Deer Cave in Gunung Mulu National Park (Sarawak) on the handrail of the plank walk. Based on the paper by Hastriter et al (2017), these might be the phoretic flea species Lagaropsylla signata associated with the earwig Arixenia esau.
