Die Cloud Device Description (CDD) ist ein allgemeines Konzept, das verschiedene Aspekte der Eigenschaften und Funktionen eines Cloud-Geräts umfasst. Im CDD 1.0 (der von GCP 2.0 unterstützten Version von CDD) werden diese Konzepte in fünf Formaten organisiert:
- Im CDD werden die Funktionen und Features des Geräts beschrieben.
- CJT (Cloud Job Ticket) beschreibt die für einen vom Gerät unterstützten Befehl ausgewählten Optionen.
- CDS (Cloud Device State, Cloud-Gerätestatus) beschreibt den gesamten semantischen Status des Geräts.
- CJS (Cloud Job State) beschreibt den semantischen Status von Jobs auf dem Gerät.
- Lokale Einstellungen sind von Nutzern bearbeitbare Einstellungen, die sich bei normaler Verwendung des Geräts nicht ändern.
Diese Formate werden in den folgenden Abschnitten mit der Protobuf-Sprache von Google definiert. Sie werden als JSON-Strings, die aus den Protobufs serialisiert wurden, an den Cloud Print-Server gesendet und von diesem empfangen. So werden die Beispiele auf dieser Seite dargestellt.

Cloud Device Description – Das Format
CDD ist ein Format, das die Funktionen eines mit der Cloud verbundenen Geräts wie eines mit Google Cloud Print verbundenen Druckers beschreibt. Beispiele für Funktionen sind Farbdruck, Duplexdruck oder Unterstützung mehrerer Papierformate.

Druckerfunktionssprachen wie XPS und PPD geben Funktionen in einer generischen Sprache an und verwenden dann Keywords, um festzulegen, welche dieser Funktionen eine bestimmte Bedeutung haben (z. B. welche Funktion sich auf die Farbe des Dokuments bezieht oder wie viele Kopien gedruckt werden sollen). Das CDD-Format verfolgt einen anderen Ansatz, indem für jede Funktion des Geräts ein bestimmter Satz benutzerdefinierter Protobufs definiert wird.
GCP bietet ein Webtool, mit dem XPS- und PPD-Dateien automatisch in CDD übersetzt und die Benutzeroberfläche mit einer gültigen CDD visualisiert werden kann.
Der Hauptinhalt des CDD ist in Unterabschnitte unterteilt. Anfangs sind das die Unterabschnitte „Drucker“ und „Scanner“. Es kann davon ausgegangen werden, dass das CDD einen Drucker oder Scanner oder sogar beides darstellt: eine Drucker-Scanner-Kombination.

Cloud Job Ticket
Nachdem ein Nutzer eine Auswahl getroffen und die Werte der Gerätefunktionen konfiguriert hat, um einen Druckauftrag vorzubereiten, wird ein Cloud Job Ticket (kurz „Ticket“) erstellt, um den Drucker oder ein anderes Gerät anzuweisen, wie der Auftrag zu verarbeiten ist. Dieses Ticket wird vom Druckclient (z.B. einer Smartphone-App) an den Cloud-Dienst (z.B. GCP) gesendet und zusammen mit den Jobdaten gespeichert. Wie das CDD ist auch das CJT in gerätespezifische Abschnitte unterteilt. Es gibt beispielsweise separate Abschnitte für Drucker und Scanner.
Hinweis:Das Cloud Job Ticket wird von Cloud eingestellt. Die Verwendung mit der
chrome.printing
API in Erweiterungen unter ChromeOS wird jedoch nicht eingestellt.

CDS-Beispiel

Interpretation von CDS-Differenzen
Der Parameter „semantic_state_diff“ der /update-Schnittstelle wird als reguläre CloudDeviceState-Nachricht (CDS) wie oben definiert bereitgestellt, wird aber als „Differenz“ für die für den Drucker gespeicherte CDS interpretiert.
- Felder, die im Diff ausgelassen werden, werden im ursprünglichen CDS nicht geändert.
- Verschachtelte Nachrichtenfelder in PrinterStateSection und ScannerStateSection, die mit leeren Werten (z.B.
"marker_state": {}
) angegeben werden, werden entfernt. - Felder vom Typ „primitive“ oder „enum“ und verschachtelte Nachrichtenfelder, die mit nicht leeren Werten bereitgestellt werden, werden hinzugefügt oder geändert.
- Das Feld „version“ kann immer weggelassen werden, wenn der Parameter „semantic_state_diff“ verwendet wird. Wenn sie weggelassen wird und für den Drucker noch kein CDS festgelegt wurde, geht der Cloud Print-Server davon aus, dass für den bereitgestellten Unterschied die neueste Version verwendet wird, und legt das Feld „version“ entsprechend fest.

Cloud-Jobstatus
Der geräteunabhängige Teil des Status eines Jobs auf einem Cloud-Gerät wird durch eine JobState-Nachricht dargestellt. Alter Jobstatus
Die oben definierten Jobstatus ersetzen die alte Jobstatus-Enumeration, die in den Schnittstellen /submit, /jobs und /control verwendet wurde. Die Status-Enumeration wird jedoch zur Abwärtskompatibilität weiterhin unterstützt. Die möglichen Legacy-Jobstatus sind:- IN DER WARTESCHLANGE: Der Job wurde gerade hinzugefügt und noch nicht heruntergeladen.
- IN_PROGRESS: Der Job wurde heruntergeladen und der clientseitigen nativen Druckerwarteschlange hinzugefügt.
- DONE: Job printed successfully (DONE: Job wurde erfolgreich gedruckt)
- FEHLER: Der Druckauftrag kann aufgrund eines Fehlers nicht gedruckt werden
- EINGEREICHT: Auftrag an Drittanbieterdienst gesendet (wird nur für FedEx-Drucker verwendet)
- HELD: Der Job wurde erfolgreich eingereicht, wartet aber auf eine Nutzeraktion, bevor er in die Warteschlange gestellt wird.

Jobstatus der obersten Ebene
Ein einzelnes Gerät kann mehrere Funktionen haben (z.B. Drucken und Scannen), aber ein Job auf einem solchen Gerät wird nur von einer Funktion ausgeführt. Daher gibt es für jede unterstützte Gerätefunktion ein Format für den Jobstatus der obersten Ebene.
