GPU regions and zones

This document lists the availability of GPU models by regions and zones. Compute Engine resources are hosted in multiple locations worldwide. These locations are composed of regions and zones. For more information, see Regions and zones.

Available GPU models

The following GPU models are available with the specified machine type to support your AI, ML, and HPC workloads. If you have graphics-intensive workloads, such as 3D visualization, you can also create virtual workstations that use NVIDIA RTX Virtual Workstations (vWS). NVIDIA RTX Virtual Workstation is available for some GPU models. When you create an instance that use NVIDIA RTX Virtual Workstation, Compute Engine automatically adds a vWS license. For the A and G series accelerator-optimized machine types, the specified GPU model automatically attaches to the instance. For the N1 general-purpose machine types, you can attach the GPU models specified.

Overview

Each zone offers a variety of GPU models. Compute Engine instances can only use the GPUs available in that zone. For example in the zone asia-east1-a, you can create an N1 general purpose instance and attach either T4, V100, or P100 GPUs, but not a P4 GPU. In the zone asia-east1-a, you can also create G2 accelerator-optimized instances that automatically have L4 GPUs attached to the instance, but not an A2 accelerator-optimized instance with their A100 80GB GPUs attached.

Limitations and restrictions

  • For A3 Mega machine types, the following regions and zones are available with limited capacity. To access these regions and zones, contact your Technical Account Manager (TAM).

    • Sydney, Australia, APAC: australia-southeast1-c
    • St. Ghislain, Belgium, Europe: europe-west1-b,c
    • Council Bluffs, Iowa, North America: us-central1-b

  • For A3 High machine types, the following regions and zones are available with limited capacity. To access these regions and zones, contact your Technical Account Manager (TAM).

    • St. Ghislain, Belgium, Europe: europe-west1-b

  • For A2 Standard machine types, the a2-megagpu-16g machine is only available in the following regions and zones:

    • Iowa, North America: us-central1-a,b,c,f
    • Netherlands, Europe: europe-west4-a,b
    • Singapore, APAC: asia-southeast1-c

GPU availability by regions and zones

The following sortable table lets you select different options to see where GPU resources are available. You can search either by location or GPU machine type, or a combination of both.

You can also view the available regions and zones for GPUs by using gcloud CLI or REST. Similar to the table, you can use filters with these commands to restrict the list of results to specific GPU models or accelerator-optimized machine types. For more information, see View a list of GPU zones.

Local SSD availability by GPU regions and zones

For all GPU machine types, Local SSD disks are available in the same zones as the machine type with the following exceptions:

  • N1+V100: Local SSD disks aren't available in the us-east1-c zone.
  • N1+P4: Local SSD disks are only supported in zones us-central1-c and northamerica-northeast1-b.
