Hey!

We've been exploring signing executables with IMA/EVM, but dpkg
currently doesn't have support for setting extended attributes on
files it writes to disk[1].

One of our coworkers prototyped an mtree approach a while back[2].
Though the PAX approach might be simpler :)

Would it be okay for us to send a patch to add extended attributes
support to dpkg through PAX format entries? That approach aligns
nicely with other Tar libraries[3][4].
