The present invention has its preponderant field of application in the treatment of conditions caused by acne on the face of patients through a method of topical application.
ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓN BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Acne affects more than 90% of all adolescents, almost 50% of all adult women and 25% of all adults. The most common treatments are topical, oral medications and combinations of both. Alternatives to medication include UV radiation, laser or abrasion treatment and heat treatments (cold and heat). That said, the present invention aims at a method of acne treatment by applying thermal shocks (cold and heat). Below is a brief description of current patents in relation to the subject, in order to make reference and comparison with the present invention.
The devices described in US20060142750 employ the application of heat to treat skin conditions, such as acne, warts, cold blisters, stained skin or fine wrinkles. Typically, the maximum temperatures used are from about 70 ° C to 400 * C through the devices, their application on the skin is about 1 second. Thermal conduction transfers heat from the device to the skin and causes a biological response that accelerates acne clearance, treats stained skin and acne conditions. The total heat transferred is low enough to prevent burns. Similarly, US6635075 also describes a device like the previous one but it differs in that it integrates a temperature sensor to avoid burns during the long application time (minutes) and in addition the maximum allowed temperature is 62 9 C. CN2695026 patent describes a low heat treatment (heat conduction) temperature by means of blue cold light (wavelength of 415 nm) applying a plastic mask on the face before the application of the light.
Likewise, US7963959 provides devices, systems and methods in which an apparatus treats an acne lesion using a cryogenic fluid at a temperature of -5 * C. The contemplated apparatus can preferably be used to treat the skin of the hand of a patient, although the treatment of the skin of the face, back or other areas is also contemplated. In relation, US6226996 also claims a device like the previous one, but it differs in that it sprays a cryogenic mist over the entire treatment area. A more complex treatment device that includes a confocal microscope for viewing sections of the treatment area is discussed in US6413252. The area can be frozen by flooding it with a cryogenic fluid.
The above-mentioned inventions implement the application of cold or heat, but not combined. To achieve the sudden change in temperature, the present invention proposes the implementation of Peltier cells.
