  • Each mounting clip structure may comprise a first clip adapted to resiliently locate against the peripheral surface of the hole and a second clip adapted to resiliently locate against the second surface of the panel thereby to cause the panel to be clamped between the body and the second clip.
  • the second clip is adapted to resiliently locate against the second surface immediately adjacent the junction between the second surface and the peripheral surface.

  • the second clip occupies a normal condition and is adapted to be deflected inwardly out of said normal condition to facilitate passage of the clip through the hole and subsequently released to return to the normal condition for engagement with the second surface of the panel.

  • a locating flange 38 extends outwardly of the inner side 35 of the body 31 adjacent the locating face 36.
  • the locating flange 38 may be of a size and shape to correspond to the hole 17 so as to be snugly receivable in the hole when the cover 11 is installed in position with the locating face 36 adjacent the exposed surface 21 of the ceiling 15.
  • a wall 43 defines a locating region 44 adapted to receive and locate the speaker 13.
  • the wall 43 is of a configuration which corresponds to the configuration of the peripheral edge 16 of the speaker, as best seen in Figure 6 of the drawings.
  • the inner side 35 further comprises a plurality of locating spigots 47 projecting therefrom to be received in the mounting holes 18 in the speaker mounting flange 14.
  • the body 31 is provided with two mounting clip structures 50 for mounting the cover 11 in position in the ceiling 15, as best seen in Figure 8 of the drawings.
  • Each mounting clip structure 50 comprises a first clip 51 , a second clip 52 and a third clip 49.
  • the first, second and third clips 51 , 52, 49 are formed integrally as an assembly 53 which is adapted to be mounted onto a mounting post 55 projecting from the inner side 35 of the body.
  • the first clip 51 is adapted to resiliently locate against the peripheral surface 25 of the hole 17 and the second clip 52 is adapted to resiliently locate against the second surface 23 of the ceiling thereby to cause the ceiling to be clamped between the body 31 and the second clip 52.
  • the first clip 51 has an inner section 57 and an outer section 59.
  • the clip 51 occupies a normal condition in which the outer section 59 is located beyond the outer periphery of the hole 17 and is adapted to be deflected inwardly out of the normal condition upon engagement with the region of the exposed surface 21 of the ceiling surrounding the hole during installation of the cover to facilitate positioning of the first clip in the hole.
  • the inner section 57 presents an inclined surface 61 which is angled towards the body in the outward direction. The inclined surface 61 contacts the exposed face 21 of the ceiling 15 about the hole 17 when the cover is presented to the ceiling for installation. This contact causes the first clip 51 to be deflected inwardly to facilitate positioning of the clip 51 in the hole as the cover is pushed into position.
  • the second clip 52 has an inner section 65, an outer section 67 and an intermediate section 69 between the inner and outer sections.
  • the outer section 67 may present an inclined surface 71 for engaging the exposed surface 21 of the ceiling 15 in the region adjacent the hole 17 as the cover is presented to the hole thereby to cause deflection of the second clip 52 inwardly from a normal condition.
  • the second clip 52 can be deflected inwardly manually during the installation process.
  • the second clip 52 is adapted to be deflected inwardly out of the normal condition to facilitate passage of the clip 52 through the hole.
  • the intermediate section 69 presents an inclined surface 73 for engaging the second surface 23 of the ceiling, the inclined surface being angled away from the body 31 in the outward direction.
  • the third clip 49 provides a securing means 41 for releasably retaining the speaker 13 onto the inner side 35 of the body 31.
  • the securing means 41 comprises a retaining portion 40, angled downwardly towards the central area of the inner side 35 when the assembly 53 is located on the post 55.
  • the retaining portion 40 releasably retains the speaker mounting flange 14 to the body when the speaker mounting flange 14 is received in the region 44 defined by the wall 43.
  • the retaining portion 40 is resiliently flexible so that it can be flexed outwardly to facilitate insertion of the speaker mounting flange 14 into the locating region 44 and to return to an engaging position under the influence of its resilient nature to releasably retain the speaker mounting flange 14 in position and thereby secure the speaker 13 to the body 31.
  • Each retaining portion 40 locates against the speaker mounting flange 14 so as to retain the latter in position.
  • the clip structures 50 allow the cover 11 to be easily and conveniently installed in the ceiling 15 by the simple action of pushing the cover into position within the hole 17 formed in the ceiling, and manually deflecting the second clips 52 inwardly if necessary.
  • the second clip 52 may be deflected inwardly either by the pushing action or manually to permit it to enter the hole and subsequently to deflect outwardly because of its resilient nature to engage the second surface 23 of the ceiling 15 and so clamp the ceiling between the second clip and the body as previously explained.
  • the first clip 51 is also deflected inwardly to facilitate its entry into the hole 17 and subsequent engagement of the outer section 59 thereof with the peripheral surface 25 defining the hole 17 further assists in retaining the cover 11 in position in the ceiling 15.
  • the securing means 41 enables the speaker 13 to be easily and conveniently mounted onto the cover without the need to use fastening elements such as screws. All that is necessary is to present the speaker 13 to the cover 11 with the speaker mounting flange 14 oriented to be receivable in the region 44 defined within the locating wall 43.
  • the locating spigots 47 enter the mounting holes 18 on the speaker mounting flange 14.
  • the peripheral edge 16 of the speaker mounting flange 14 engages the third clip 49 on the mounting clip structure 50 so as to cause the retaining portion 40 to deflect outwardly to facilitate complete insertion of the speaker mounting flange 14 within the region 44.
  • the retaining portion 40 then returns under the influence of its resilient nature to an engaging condition in which the speaker 13 is retained in position on the cover 11.
  • the speaker 13 is mounted on the cover 11 prior to installation of the cover in the ceiling 15.
  • a speaker cover which is similar to the first embodiment except that the cover 11 also has a raised projection 39 incorporated on the locating surface 38, as best shown in figure 18.
  • the locating surface 38 is adapted to bear against the exposed surface 21 of the ceiling 5 and locate the speaker cover 11 substantially parallel to the ceiling 15 whilst allowing for irregularities in the exposed surface 21 , particularly along the peripheral surface 25 of the hole 17.
  • a securing means 141 comprises a peripheral locating structure defined by a wall 143 extending from the inner side 35 of the body.
  • the wall 143 incorporates a plurality of securing clips 145 for releasably securing the speaker mounting flange 14 to the body when the speaker mounting flange is received in the region 144 defined by the wall 143.
  • Each securing clip 145 comprises a tab 149 which forms part of the wall.
  • the tab 149 is resiliently flexible so that it can be flexed outwardly to facilitate insertion of the speaker mounting flange 14 into the locating region 144 and to return to an engaging position under the influence of its resilient nature to releasably retain the speaker mounting flange in position and thereby secure the speaker to the body.
  • Each tab 149 incorporates a lip 146 which locates against the speaker mounting flange 14 so as to retain the latter in position.
  • each mounting clip structure 150 comprises only a first clip 151 and a second clip 152.
  • the first and second clips 151 , 152 are formed integrally as an assembly 153 which is adapted to be mounted onto a mounting post 155 upstanding from the inner side 35 of the body.
  • the invention provides a simple yet highly effective arrangement for mounting a speaker onto a speaker cover and installing the speaker cover in position.

Abstract

Le cache de haut-parleur (11) de la présente invention est destiné à un haut-parleur (13) dont la flasque de montage (14) est pourvue d'une pluralité de trous de montage (18). Le cache (11) comprend un corps (31) définissant une face extérieure (33) et une face intérieure (35), une structure de positionnement servant à positionner le haut-parleur sur la face intérieure (35) du corps (31) et un organe de fixation (41) permettant de bloquer le haut-parleur (13) contre la face intérieure (35) du corps (31).
