MANUFACTURING CORD BUTTONS.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 9,210, dated August 17,1852.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, NELSON PERKINS, of Wawarsing, in the county of Ulster and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Method for Preparing Cord or Tape to be Used in the Manufacture of Buttons for Vhips; and I declare that the following is a full and exact description of the mode of manufacturing said cord or tape to be used in the forming of such buttons.
rI`he threads composing said cords or tape may be of cotton, linen, silk or gut. The cords or tape is prepared and formed by running the threads around a cylinder, or stretching them upon pegs in `such a manner that they shall come in close contact side by ide. They are then wet or sized with glue or some other adhesive substance and dried. In this latter state all the threads cohere, and are so fastened together as to resemble cloth with the threads all running the same way. rIhe tape may be made by gluing together only threads sulicient to make it of the proper width, or a larger number of threads may be glued together, and afterward separated into strands or tape of the proper width. What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patentis- The preparation of the cords in the process of manufacturing cord buttons by gluing them together substantially in the manner and for the purpose herein set forth.
