Description

C. 0. LINDSTROM. VIBRATORY MASSAGE APPARATUS. ArPLIoATIoN FILED ooT.so, 190s.
91 5, 1 97. Patented Mar. 16, 1909. A
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL O. LINDSTROM, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
VIB RATORY .MASSAGE APPARATUS.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL O. LINDsTRoM, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vibratory Massage Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to electro-vibratory apparatus` used in the treatment of diseases, and has for its obj ect to provide a simple and convenient combination of parts whereby a chair or seat occupied by the patient has imparted to it a rapid vibratory movement which in turn is imparted to the patient, all as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawings :#Figure 1, is a perspective view illustrating` the general arrangement of the apparatus. Fig. 2, is a detail perspective view of the clamp by which the electro-vibrator is fiXedly attached to the chair or seat.
Similar numerals of reference indicate like parts in both views.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a chair or seat of any usual construction adapted to support the person to be treated.
2, is the electro-vibrator of any usual construction, preferably of the type which forms the subject matter of my prior Letters Patent No. 859,674, dated July 9, 1907, and which may receive its supply of electromo tive force from a battery 3, or other usual source of supply.
4, is a clamp adapted for engagement with any desired part of the chair or seat 1, and comprising` a main body portion at each end of which are formed angular j ambs 5 and 6, through one of which passes the clamping screw 7 by which the clamp is secured to the desired part of the chair.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 30, 1908.
Patented March 16, 1909.
Serial No. 460,218.
8, are a pair of segmental wire jaws attached at one end to the body portion of the clamp 4, in a pivotal manner, while the other ends of said jaws are provided with eyes for the passage of a clamping screw 9, by means of which said jaws are firmly clamped around the body of the electro-Vibrator 2, as shown.
In use the vibrator imparts a rapid vibratory movement to the chair or seat, which movement in turn is imparted to the patient occupying the seat, and has been found from extensive use to afford good curative effects in the treatment of many types of nervous and other diseases.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isz-- 1. The combination of a seat or chair, an electro-vibrator the body portion of which contains the vibratory mechanism, and a clamp engaging said body portion in a direct manner and adapted to rigidly attach said vibrator to said chair in a readily detachable manner, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination of a seat or chair, an electro-vibrator, and a clamp adapted to rigidly attach said vibrator to said chair, said clamp comprising a body portion, a pair of angular' jaws, a clamping screw passing through one of said jaws, a pair of segmental jaws pivotally attached to said clamp body and provided with eyes at their free ends, and a clamping screw passing through said eyes, substantially as set forth. l
Signed at Chicago, Illinois, this 24th day of October 1908.
