Description
PATENT OFFICE.
FRANZ WEIDL, OF DRESDEN, GERMANY.
HAND-BIDET.
Application filed August 19, 1907. Serial No. 389,152. v
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 13, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANZ VVEIDL, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and resident of Dresden, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hand-Bidets, and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to bidets, more particularly a hand bidet, and the object thereof is to provide an article of the class referred to in the manner as hereinafter set forth, whereby the bidet is adapted when used to fit closelyagainst the inguinal region so that the privy parts will be brought in direct contact with the contents of the bidet.
The further objects of the invention are to provide a bidet which shall be simple in its construction, strong, durable, convenient in use, capable of assuming an upright position when not in use and inexpensive tomanufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangements of parts hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown the preferred embodiment of the invention; but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings-Figure 1 is a perspective view of the bidet in accordance with this invention, showing the position of the same when in use. Fig. 2 is a like view with the bidet in an upright position. Figs. 3 and 4 are perspective views of modified forms.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings the bidet comprises a body portion 1, which is substantially U-shaped in cross-section and gradually decreases in height towards its front or open end. The front end of the body portion 1 at its top is bulged as at 2, whereby the width at such portion of the body 1 is increased. The front end of the body portion 1 terminates in an inwardly extending flange 3 which constitutes an arresting medium for the contents of the bidet when the latter is arranged to extend in a longitudinal direction. The body portion 1 at its rear is formed integral with a closure plate 4 in such manner that a bead 5 will be set up. Formed integral with the top edges l of the body portion 1 is a top wall 6 having its forward part 7 cut away as at 8 to provide the bidet with a substantially circular opening. The wall. 6 has its forward edges formed integral with the top edge of the flange 3.
, The reference character 9 denotes a substantially U-shaped lip which is formed integral with the inner edge of the iiange 3, the lip 9 gradually decreasing in width from its base to its upper end and extends in a direction similar to that in which the body portion 1 extends, but the lip 9 is arranged above the plane of the base ofthe body portion 1.A The rear part of the body portion 1 is angularly disposed with respect to the plate 4, and the top wall 6 is so shaped as to conform to the shape of the top of the body portion 1.
In the construction shown in Fig. 3 the forward part ofthe bidet is similar to that shown in Fig. 1, the same reference characters being applied thereto. The bidet shown in Fig. 3, however, is not provided with a circular opening in its top. In Fig. 3 the bidet is shown as having the major part of its body portion formed of a collapsible bag which is indicated by the reference character 10 and is closed on all sides and at one end.
In the form shown in Fig. 4 the body portion is indicated by the reference character 11 and is substantially cup-shaped in contour. The top of the body portion 11 is formed withl an inwardly extending flange 12 which terminates in a lip 13 arranged at the forward end of the said body portion 11.
When the bidet is used it is so positioned that the forward portion thereof is placed around the privy parts with the lip 3 against the inguinal region and assumes a longitudinal position, that is to say, it extends rearwardly and is somewhat inclined so as to cause the water to flow forward whereby the privy parts come in contact with the water. One of the functions of the bidet, in accordance with Vthis invention, is to bring the privy parts in direct contact with the contents of the bidet and enable such parts to be washed whether they be organs of the male or female.
In connection with the form of bidet shown in Fig. 3 it will be said that the collapsible body Vportion is preferably formed of india rubber or other material impervious to water and while the forward part of the bidet is made of rigid material, the bag like body portion being suitably connected to said rigid portion. Before the form of bidet shown in Fig.V 3 is used, however, it is filled with water and when used the rigid portion is positioned upon the privy. parts and the bag like portion is raised with one hand so as to cause the water to flow against the privy parts and enable one to wash said parts if desired.
What l elaini is- 1. A bidet comprising a-body portion having its forward end open and further provided at said forward. end with an inwardly extending flange, a Ui-shaped lip formed integralwith saidfiange and extending in the direction of the length of the body portion7 said lip having its base arranged above the plane ofthe base ofsaid inwardly extending-flange.
2. A. bidet comprising a body portion havingits forw-ard endI open and further provided ati said forward endwith aninwardly extending flange, a Ufshaped lip formed integralwith said flange and extending in the direetion ofthe length of the body portion, said lip havingits-base arranged above the plane of the base ofsaid inwardly extending flange, said body portion. graduallydecreasing in heightJ toward'its forward end;
3. A bidet comprising abody portion hav-V ing its forward end' open. and further provided. at. said forward end with an inwardly extending flange, a U-shaped lip formed integral with said flange and extending inthe direetion ofthe length ofthe body portion, said lip having its base arranged above the plane ofthe base ofsaid inwardly extending flange,
and said body portion further having its forward part bulged and its top ent away to forni an opening at the bnlged portion.
4l. A bidet eoinlnising a body portion having its forward end open and its rear end closed, said body portion having its rear part thereof angularly disposed with respeet to its forward part, said body portion further having its forward end fornied with an inwardly extending flange and its top eut away to provide an opening, and a lip formed integral with said flange, said lip boing substantially U-shape in contour.
5. A bidet comprising a body portion having its forward. end open. and forined with an inwardly extending flange, and a substantially U-shaped lip fernied integral with said flange, said lip gradn ally deereasing in width at eaoh side upwardly, the base o lx the l lange arranged above the base of the body portion.
6. A bidet comprising a body portion having its forward end thereof bulged, open and formed with an inwardly extending llango, and a substantially U-shaped lip formed integral with said' flange, the base of the lip being arranged above the base of the body portion.
ln testimony whereof .l allix iny signature, in presenee of two witnesses.
