BXGAVATOR. APPLICATION FILED AUG.1'7,1908:

The operator by turning the hand wheel YV may cause the conveyer frame to lower by gravity, thereby regulating the depth to which itis desired veyer frames mounted in suitable guideways upon said standard, means for raising and lowering the frame, an endless eonveyer chain upon said frame, buckets secured to said endless conveyer, a hinged bottom to each bucket, and trip mechanism for actuating the latter', as set forth.
2. An excavating apparatus comprising a platform, a slotted standard rising therefroin,a conveyer frame, an endless conveyor thereon, lateral projections upon said frame mounted in said slots, buckets secured to said endless conveyer, each bucket having a pi' v otal bottom, a trip adapted to actuate said bottom, pivotal bars connectingr the platform and conveyer frame, a motor, gear connections between the saine and the conve yer, and means for raising and lowering the conveyor frame, as set forth.
3. ln combination with the platform of an excavating apparatus, a slotted standard rising therefrom, a conveyor frame, an endless conveyer thereonprojections upon said. frame engaging the slots of said standard, buckets fixed to said conveyer frame, a pulley mounted upon said standard, a cable passing about said pulley and connected to said conveyor frame, a reel upon. which said cable winds, means for operating said reel, and means for driving the conveyer, as set forth.
4. In combination with the platform of an excavating apparatus, a. slotted standard rising therefrom, a conveyer fram e, an end less eonveyer tlvreon, projections upon said frame engaging the slots ofsaid standard,

In combination withthe platform of an excavating apparatus, a slotted standard rising therefrom, a conveyer, an endless con if'eyer thereon, projections upon said frameV engaging the slots of said standard, buckets fixed to said conveyer, a 'pulley mounted upon said standard, a cable passing about said pulley and connected to said conveyer, a reelupon which said cable winds, a rota table shaft, gear connections between the same and said reel. bars pivotally connected together, one of said bars being connected to said renvoyer and the other to said platform, a motor, and gear connections between the same and said eonveyer, as set forth.
