WRLPPING-SHEE No. ssnoii.
. Specification o' Letters etent.
Patented March 3, 1908.
' ipplication filed August 26, 1305. Serial fio. 275,872.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that i, JORDAN W. LAMBERT,
sheet that is an integral part with the main. and' supplemental sections, but is marked a citizen ofthe United States of America, re from the supplemental section by two rows of perrorations extendinpr transversely of 50 siding at the city oi St. Louis, in the State of iiiissonri, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Virappingheets, of
which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.l reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a Wrapping sheet for encircling cylindrical boxes or other articles, such as are commonly coniined within a Wrapping sheet, in such manner that the Wrapping sheet may be eiiicientiy and quickly removed.
A further object of the invention is to pro vide a Wrapping sheet with leaves which may contain directions or other information relative to the goods inclosel by the Wrapping sheet, and Which will remain intact after the Wrapping sheet has been severed, The Wra )ping sheet referred to, therefore, may be in t Le forni of a booklet or in the iorin of a sinie sheet.
ii re i is a perspective view" of a cylindrica body such as a box, with my wrapping sheet having leaves and applied thereto. Fig. U. is a similar viewv to Fig. i, showing the Wrapping; sheet having leaves and as it ai ears in the process of severine,F it independently of the leaves. Fig: HI is a perspective view of the wrapping sheet having leaves in s )read condition. Fig. 1V is an edge View of t e wrapping sheet as it appears in the act of Wrapping it around an object it is to encircle. Fig. V is an enlarged cross section taken through the wrapping sheet as applied to ands encirclin an obyect. Fig. VI is a plan view of a inoriiification of the wrapping sheet in which the leaves are omitted.
l designates the inner main section of my wrap )ing sheet, which prefcrahiy includes a lurallity of leaves, as seen in Figs. III to V inclusive, thereby producing; a booklet, the leaves of which may be utilized for any desirable purpose, such as that oi printing thereon directions relative to the object, tor instance merchandise, that is to be inclosed by the wrapping sheet.
2 is an intermediate supplemental section of the wrapping sheet that is an integral part of the main section 1, but is marked oli ther-efrom by two rows of perforations'fi extending transversely of the wra pping sheet.
. et is an outer sealing section lthe wrapping the Wrapping sheet.
6 vis a severing strip that is secured to the .inside of the Wrapping sheet between the nrst named rows of pertorations 3 that mark oil the main and suppleinr ital seci'ions, this 65 severing strip being pre abiy a width corresponding to, .or less than the width of the part of the Wrapping sheer .fetween said i'irst named rows of perforations In the practical. use oi' iii-y wrapping sheet 70 the main section l is first wrapped around the object to be encircled by the wrappingl sheet, in such a manner that the severing,f strip 6 will be inclosed within then/rapping sheet,
and have an end projecting` in the forni oi a tongue to be grasped by vthe iingfers. T he supplemental section and sealing lsection are then wrapped onto the main section as the outside part and the sealing section is secured adhcsivcly to `the inner part of the supplemental section ot the Wrapj'iing sheet attlic point thereof to which it is brought. The rows of periorations I?, and 5 in Ythe Wrapping sheet are so disposed therein relative to each other that when the supplemental and sealing 35 sections are wrapped onto the main section the rows of perforations 5 will register with the rows of perforations 3, as seen moet clearly in Fir. V. It will be seen that as. these rows oi'7 cring strip (i which is applied between and adjacent to the perforations 3 Will be in alincment With both sets or rows of perforpcriorntions register the sev- 90.
ations. The severing strip is of such iouqth as hereinheiorc stated that an end vviliextend beyond the edge of the Wrapping, sheet as seen in Fig. and when it is desired to open thc package, it is only necessary to gras) this extending end 0r tongue and by pulling thereupon in a direc- 1 tion across the parts of the wrapping sheet intf-irvenin(T between the sets of rows ol. perforations the severing strip will separate the wrapping sheet on the lince of the perforations oi both sets of rows from side to side of 1 the .vrappiiig sheet. rThe wrapping sheet is therebT severed by removingl the sup 1eniente section 2 and sealing section W ile the main section l remains intact and uninjured. -in Fi V21 have shovvna modification in .ich t leaves, attached to .the -rnain een Heving thus deseri ed my invention the following .is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A wrapping sheet' formed integral with en inner mainsecton, an intermediate supplementel section and an outer sealing seetion,v two rows of .perforations extending transverse/1 of the Wmpping sheet and marking o separating lines between the inn ner mam section and the intermediate supplemental section, and two rows of perfora tions extending transversely of the Wreppinv' sheet between the intermediate supplements section and the outer sealing section and adapted tof register `between the first named rows of with the irst named eenen 2. A wrapping. sheet formed .imagen-i with v 'an 'inner main section, en intenieintesnpq ple'mental section 'end en outer een tion, two rows of perforation'sextendilig' .transversely of the Wrapping sheet and mankmg off seperetin mentel'section, and two rows of pei'foretions extending tinus'Versei4 of the wrapping' sheet 1 between the interme ate supplement-aiseelinesbetween the ijl'ne'i" mam section an the intermediate snppef tion and the out-er sealing section and edept edto register with the first named rows, end e yseveiing strip seeured transversey. of the wrapplng sheet onthe inside of the letter-1- end having en end projecting eyelid 'the edge of the wrapping sheet so; as to provide e .40
tongue. l l n i JORDAN w1 LAM/BERT.' Invpresence of- 'WM. J. Contenga/n,` WM. J. QUINN.
