PATENTED JUNE 5, 1906.

COMBINATION TOOL.
APPLIGATION FILED MAY 5, 1905.
attoznuao UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
COMBINATION-TOOL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 5, 1906.
Application filed May 5, 1905. Serial No. 258.978.
To all whmn it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMILE REIZENSTEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waltham, in the county of MiddleseX, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and use ful Combination-Tool, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a combinationtool; and it consists of the construction and combination of certain members thereof, the novel features of which are pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a combinationtool embodying my invention. Figs. 2 and. 3 represent side elevations there of, certain parts being in different positions in the two figures.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a blade one end of which is continued into a crook B,,the terminal of which is bent outwardly, forming an elbow C, which is adapted to approach the adjacent portion of the blade and form with the same a clip for holding papers, envelops, &c., the crook being resilient in its nature, so that the elbow G exerts pressure on said papers, &c., the effect of which is evident. It will also be seen that the blade A is adapted as a paper-cutter, envelop-opener, ruler, &c., a convenient handle therefor being provided by the crook aforesaid. The face of the blade is graduated, as at D, forming a convenient measure, and a portion of the crook has a file-surface E, adapted for pointing lead and slate pencils, &c., said crook having also connected with it jaws F for holding a piece of rubber or erasing material thereon.
G designates a slide which is fitted on the blade A and has riveted or otherwise secured to it a two-part device H, one member J of which is a knife-blade and the other member K of which is a screw-driver blade. In the bend L of the crook is the slit M, through which either of said members may be projected, it being noticed that when the member J is partly passed through said slit M the main portion of said member is in position outside of the bend L to be used either as a pencil-sharpener, cutter, &c., or an inkeraser, scraper, &c., it being noticed that both edges of the memberare sharpened, as
at N P, and either edge may render the desired service, the adjacent portions of the blade A and crook B providing the handle for the manipulation of the member J, while the thumb may be pressed against the slide G to prevent improper movement of said member. By raising the elbow C the slide Gr may be slipped from the blade A, and said slide is then reversed and restored to the blade, when the member K may be passed through the slit M and render service as a screw-driver When the device H is not re quired for/use, it occupies a position between the bend L and elbow C and is prevented by the same from being displaced from the blade A.
The edge N of the blade is concaved, as at Q, forming an additional sharpening member, it being evident that all edges of said blade may be readily sharpened, owing to the convenience of removal of the device H from the blade A. Connected with the crook B is the conical pencil-sharpener R, it being noticed that the blade A may form a handle for said sharpener, it being grasped by the fingers of the hand, while the thumb may press firmly against the outer faceof the elbow C as an additional holding device.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a combination-tool, a blade, a slotted crook continuous of an end thereof, an elbow on said crook adapted to exert pressure on said blade, and a cutting device mounted intermediate of said elbow and the bend of said crook and movable through the slot of the latter.
2. In a combination-tool, a blade having a crook at one end, and a device movably mounted on said blade and comprising a knife and a screw-driver confined within and limited in its movements in both directions by the bend of said crook and its terminal.
3. In a combination-tool, a blade having a slotted crook at one end, a knife and a screwdriver for cooperation with said crook and a slide reversibly mounted on said blade and fixedly carrying said knife and screwdriver.
4. A blade, and a device, comprising a knife and a screw-driver, and a carrier for said device, said carrier being mounted on said blade and a crook at one end of said IOC blade, said crook having therein a slit blade at orie end thereof and longitudinally through which either of said members may movable thereon.
be projected.
5. A blade having a crook, and a device I EMILE REIZENSTEIN' 5 comprising a knife and a screw-driver and a Witnesses:
carrier for said device confined within said GEO. G. BLAKE,
crook, said carrier being mounted on said E. F. REED.
