Description

CHARLES T. FULLER, OF OLEAN, NEW YORK.
MANTLE-SUPPORT FOR BURN ERS.
Specification of Letters Patent;
Patented July 17, 1906.
Application filed October 24, 1905. Serial No, 284,215.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES T. FULLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Olean, in the county of Oattaraugus and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mantle- Supports for Burners and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in mantle-supports for burners, and comprises a support made, preferably, of clay or analogous fire roof material, held by means of an adjustab e bracket to the me tallic cap of the mantle and having its upper portion curved with a forked end for engagement with a mantle.
The invention consists in various details of construction and arrangements of parts, which. will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my support, shown as attached to a bracket of the mantlecap. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the bracket, and Fig. 3 is a detail view pf the mantle-suport. Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a mantle-cap of the usual construction having a screen over its upper end, and B desi nates an adjustable bracket which is he d by means of a thumb screw B to said cap. Said bracket has oppositely-disposed Wings 0, which are adapted to be bent to form registering eyes D. E designates my improved mantle-sup ort, made referably of a fireproof material such as c lay, magnesia, or other fireproof substancesand the upper portion of said support is curved, and its extreme end is forked, as at E, forming 1 means to engage a mantle-supporting chain or wire F. Said bracket B is bent, as shown in the drawings, so that the u right portion having said eyes D is paralle with the circumference of said mantle-cap, and when the lower portion of the mantle-support is adjusted in said eyes the lower end of the support will rest upon a horizontally-disposed portion of said bracket.
From the foregoing it will be noted that a mantle support is afiorded which being made preferably of clay, magnesia, or other fireproof material and so constructed that a mantle may be held centrally over a cap and one which will not be affected in any way by the excessive heat.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with a mantlecap, a bracket-arm fastened to said cap, op ositelyprojecting wings upon said brac ret arm which are bent to form registering eyes, one above the other, a mantle-support made of a fireproof mineral substance, the lower portion of said mantle-support engaging said registering eyes and resting upon a horizontally-disposed ortion of the bracket, the upper end of sai support being curved and its extreme upper end forked and adapted to receive and support a mantle over said cap, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHAS. T. FULLER.
