B. P. HOGAN. SLEEVE IRONING BOARD.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 12, 1905.

BERTICE P. HOGAN, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
SLEEVE-IRONING BOARD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
ratented July 3, 1906.
Application filed August 12, 1905. Serial No. 273,960.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BERTIOE P. HOGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sleeve-Ironing Boards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in sleeve-ironing boards, and has for its object the construction of a sleeve-ironing board with a clamp mechanism for securing it to a suitable support and with the board so pivoted thereto that it can be held in a fixed position or swung around out of the way.
The features of my invention are hereinafter set forth and described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side view in elevation of my improved sleeve-ironing board. Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line 00 0c in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the same on the line y y in Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a view of the under side of the board detached from its su porting-standard.
In the drawings illustrating my invention, A is a metal frame provided with a clampingj aw A and a clamp-screw B, whereby it can be secured to a suitable support O. This frame A is provided with a vertical hole a, which is somewhat oblong in the upper part of the frame, and on the top of the forwardlyprojecting part of the frame there is an upgardlygprojecting rib a. (Clearly shown in 1g. 3.
On the under side of the rear end of the sleeve-ironing board D, I provide a metal plate E, provided with a downwardly-projecting stud e, adapted to extend down through the vertical hole a in the frame A and operate as a pivot upon which the ironing-board D can be swung around on the frame A, and this stud is preferably secured in place by means of a pin e passing therethrough. On the opposite end of the under side of the plate E there are two lugs E, adapted to embrace and engage the rib a on the top of the frame A.
In operation the oblong hole a in the upper part of the frame A permits suflicient movement of the stud e therein so that the outer end D of the sleeve-ironing board D can be raised sufficiently to detach the lugs E from the rib a, as illustrated by broken lines in Fig. 1, and permit the table D to be swung around to one side, as illustrated by broken lines in Fig. 3.
Having thus described my invention, so as to enable others to construct and use the same, what I claim as new, and desire to se cure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s
The combination in a sleeve-ironing board, of a supporting-frame having a vertical pivotal opening therein the upper part of which is oblong, a rib on the top of said frame, a clamping device for securing the frame to a suitable support, a sleeve-ironing board, a plate on the under side of the rear end thereof, a downwardly-projecting pivotal stud on the rear end of said plate and adapted to operate in the pivotal opening in the frame, and downwardly-projecting lugs on the opposite end of said plate adapted to detachably engage the rib on the top of the frame, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
BERTIOE P. HOGAN. Witnesses:
H. M. STURGEON, G. J. MEAD.
