UNITED STATES PATENT FFTQE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 13, 1906 Application filed February 5, 1904. Serial No. 192,244.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MATHIAS REIMANNS, a subject of the Queen of the Netherlands, residing at Valkenberg, Netherlands, have invented a new and useful Improved Surgical Appliance, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is designed to procure evacuation even in the most difficult circumstances, and without enemas or medicine, with facility, painlessness, and in a short time.
In the accompanying drawings, Figures 1 and 2 show side elevations Fig. 3, a View from above; Fig. 4, a view from beneath.
The apparatus comprises the acorn-shaped head a, to which is attached the rod 6 with the shield c. This latter bears the disk (1, to which is attached the ring 6.
The apparatus is made of vulcanite an polished throughout.
When it is in use, it is inserted in the rectum until the disk (1 prevents further advance It is then drawn backward and forward and at the same time turned to the right and left,
and these actions repeated as required, being easily elfected bypassing a finger through the ring 6. The evacuation is then effected quickly and painlessly.
WhatI claim is- As an improved article of manufacture, the herein-described surgical appliance, consist ing of a head with rounded entering end, a relatively slender stem extending from the opposite end of said head, an enlargement at the opposite end of said stem of greater diameter than the said head, a flat shield at the base of said enlargement, and a ring attached to said shield and disposed upon the side opposite said enlargement, the whole adapted for use substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MATHIAS REIMANNS.
