JOHN J. MINYVEGEN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
NURSING- BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 701,070, dated May 2'7, 1902.
Application filed October 3, 1901.
To and whmn it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN J. MINWEGEN, residing at No. 258 North Franklin street, in the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State oflllinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Nursing-Bottles; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference which form part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a hygienic nursing-bottle of cheap construction, separable into several parts to permit of the perfect cleansing of all interior parts, of non-absorbent and non-corrosive material, of strength and form to resist all ordinary usages, to prevent leakage, and adapted to be connected externally and internally with nipples or nipple connections.
In the drawings, Figure l is a vertical elevation of the complete bottle with an external nipple. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation of the body portion of the bottle. Fig. 4 is a sectional A, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, is the body portion of the bottle, made of non-absorbent, non-corrosive material, cylindrical in form, of suitable dimensions both in regard to its use and convenience of cleansing. The interior top and bottom of the body of the bottle is rounded, so that there are no corners or sharp edges to interfere with the internal cleansing. The exterior bottom is made flat to support the bottle vertically for filling and other purposes. On the exterior of the body of the bottle near the top is what may be termed a collar to, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, the top of which is a right angle to the axis of the body of the bottle and is designed to form a shoulder-bearing 1), Figs. 2 and 3, the purpose of which will be hereinafter explained. The exterior of the body of the bottle above this shoulder-bearing is constructed in the form of a screw 0, Figs. 2 and 3, the threads being rounded both at top and bottom and their junction with shoulder-bearing forming a rounded groove to facilitate perfect cleansing.
B, Figs. 1, 2, and 4, is the head or upper portion of the bottle, made of non-absorbent, non-corrosive material, conical in form, and provided with a cylindrical top (Z, Figs. 1 and Serial No- 7'7A38. (No model.)
2, adapted to engage and to hold nipples or nipple connections either externally,as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or internally in the form of a cork or stoppen' The lower part of the head is provided with an internal-thread 6, Figs. 2 and 4, adapted to engagethe threaded portion of the body of the bottle. Below the threaded portion 6 is a flanged bearing f, Figs. 2 and 4, constructed to correspond with the shoulder-bearing b on the body of the bottle and to partly extend over the collar a in Figs. 1 and 2.
C, Fig. 2, is a non-absorbent, non-corrosive ring adapted to engage and pass over the threaded portion of the body of the bottle and to rest on the shoulder-bearing Z), Fig. 2, the external diameter of said ring being slightly greater than the diameter of the collar a to engage the interior of the flangef and form a perfect tight joint.
In using the bottle the nipple connections are removed, the head and body of the bottle separated, and the ring removed. The several parts are then thoroughly cleansed, the
ring replaced, the head screwed on the body firmly against the ring, and the nipple or nipple connection attached.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A nursing-bottle, having a cylindrical body internally rounded to facilitate cleaning, and a conical top havinga cylindrical head adapted to receive and to hold the nipple; the said bottle being separable into two parts at its greatest diameter; the said body being provided with an external threaded part and shoulder; the said top being provided with an internal threaded part and flanged shoulder adapted to engage the external threaded part of the said body and to extend slightly over the said external shoulder; and a ring adapted to pass over the external threads and to rest on the shoulder of said body and to be engaged and compressed by the flanged shoulder of the said top, and thus making a secure and tight union of the two parts of said bottle, as and for the purposes specified.
JOHN J. MINWEGEN.
