SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 693,536, dated February 18, 1902. Application tiled July 24, 1901 Serial No. 69,487. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD F. BAKER, a citizen of the United States, residing in Passaic, county of Passaic, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to the manufacture of sticky fly-paper.
As at present prepared for the market sticky fly-paper consists of two sheets of paper, usually Manila paper, between which the adhesive material is placed, such adhesive material in order to confine it being surrounded by a border of another and heavier adhesive. Often, and especially in warm weather, the main or inclosed adhesive softens, and if the border adhesive is interrupted or broken by spaces it finds its way out from between the sheets, getting onto other artielse, as other sheets of the paper in the same container, and producing very untidy results generally.
The object of this invention is to produce a fly-paper in which should the border adhe sive be imperfect it will be at once apparent from the outside without separating the sheets, so that even on a hasty examination of the stock of sheets the defective ones may be at once identified and withdrawn.
My invention is fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure I shows the improved article, the corner of one sheet of the paper being turned' back; and Fig. 2 j is a longitudinal sectional view of the artieleas seen in Fig. i.
In that embodiment of my invention shown hesive material disposed between them and forming the trap.
0 denotes the border adhesive orbinder, the same being composed, as usual, of a heavier adhesive.
The adhesive forming the border 0 is colored or tinted, so that said border may be readily seen through the paper a, which is made of some transparent material-such as,
for instance, parchment-paper.
I prefer coloring the border by mixing the coloring material in with the adhesive material forming the border when the latter is being prepared.
I wish it to be understood that I do notlimit myself to that embodiment of my invention above described; but,
\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. As an article of manufacture, sticky ilypaper consisting of two sheets of suitable material having between them an adhesive and a confining border for the adhesive distinguished in color from said adhesive, substantiallyas described.
2. As an article of manufacture, sticky flypaper consisting of two transparent sheets ofi suitable material havingbetween them an adhesive anda confining border for the adhesive distinguished in color from said adhesive, substantially as described.
As an article of manufacture, sticky flypaper consisting of two sheets of suitable material having between them an adhesive and a confining border for the adhesive, said sheets being appreciably transparent and the border being relatively conspicuously colored so that the border is outwardly visible, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of July, loot.
EDWARD I iAliElt.
