UNITED STATES PATENT "OFFICE.
WILLIAM FLOOKTON BROWNELL, OF NEW LONDON, WISCONSIN. Y
HERNIAL-TRUSS SUPPORT.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 670,530, dated March 26, 1901. Application filed August 21, 1900. Serial No. 27,594. (No model.)
BROWNELL, a citizen of the United States, re-
siding at New London, in the county of Waupaca and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Truss Holders or Supports; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,
Myinvention relates to improvements in truss-pad holders or supports, and has for its object to provide a simple and effective device of this character adapted to hold the pad firmly and securely against movement and yet permit of its ready adjustment or detachment when desired.
The invention consists of a pad-holder embodying certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, which will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a pad-holder constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2
. is a sectional view thereof, and Fig. 3 is a detail View of the clamping-block.
Like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views. A represents the holder, which consists of a circular plate or disk B, provided with a se ries of openings 0 for passage of fastening 'devices for securing it to the pad-base. The
. outer side or face of this holder is convex and formed with teeth or biting projections j.
The outer end of the block is formed into a curved finger-piece It, whereby the block may be conveniently handled and adjusted.
In use the pad is secured to the disk B by means of screws or other suitable fastening devices passed through the openings 0, and
and prevent independent movement of either of the parts. To adjust the pad, it is simply necessary to loosen the jam-nut, move the block outwardly, move the pad to the desired position, and then tighten the jam nut to cause the block to clamp the wire.
The device is simple of construction and by its use adapts the pad to be readily and conveniently applied, removed, and adjusted and insures a firm retention of the pad in its proper operative position.
' Having ihus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A holder or support for truss-pads, comprising a plate or disk, a stem or post projecting from the disk, a clamping-block having an opening for the passage of the post and a notch to receive asuspending band or wire, and a nut on the post to clamp the block, substantially as described. 1
2. A holder or support for truss-pads, com- WILLIAM FLOOK'ION BROWNELL.
