WATER-PAIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 639,822, dated. December 26, 1899.
Application filed March 24, 1 8 9 9.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that I, ALBERT MiiLLER, executor, of Schweidnitz, Silesia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improve- .ments in Water-Pails, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has for its object a water-pail which can be folded together and This effect is rings, one for the bottom and one for the upper edge of the pail, the walls and the bottom consisting of some flexible materialsuch as sail-cloth, leather, or the like-and each ring being composed of two half-rings connected each to the other by hinge-joints.
The invention is represented in the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a side view of the pail; Fig. 2, a plan view, and Figs. 3 and 4 two side views of the frame of the pail, Fig. 5 showing the frame folded together.
As already mentioned, the pail consists of a frame, to which the sail-cloth, walls, and bottom are fixed. The frame is composed of an upper larger ring a and a lower smaller ring I), each consisting of two half-rings a a and 1) 6 connected together by hinge-joints in such a way that they can be folded together. In order to hold the two rings in their position, two connecting-supports c are provided, each consisting of two parts 0 0 connected together by hinge-joints in such a manner that they cannot fold themselves together Serial No. 710,365. (No model.)
fixed two eyelets for the hooks It of a handle h.
The sail-cloth or the like is sewed to the upper ring, while it is attached to the lower ring preferably by riveting it to the ring. In order that the cloth is not torn by the rivets, a thin ring is fitted to the inner side of the cloth, which is thus pinched between the two rings and connected together by rivets.
It is obvious that the manner in which the cloth is attached to the frame and in which the parts of the frame are connected together may be varied, the essential idea of the invention being a water-pail consisting of a frame covered with a flexible material, the frame being so constructed that it can be folded together.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A bucket comprising a frame made up of an upper hoop, a lower hoop, connecting-links between them, both the upper and lower hoops being formed in sections, which sections of each hoop are hinged together and the. said links being formed in sections hinged together and to the sections of the hoops, and a suitable covering for the frame, substantially as described.
Signed by me at Breslau, Germany, this 20th day of December, 1898.
ALBERT MULLER.
