SPECIFICATION forming par@ @fj Letters .Application ma` oeabei 5; i895.
To @ZZ whom t may con/cern:V w
Be it known that I, LORENZO D. CORSER, a
ton, in the county of Cumberland andiState of Maine, haveinvented anew and useful Cow-Tail Holder, of which the following is a specification. i i i The purpose of the present invention isito provide asimple and effective means for securing the cows tail` during theiprocess of of this character as heretofore constructed do not grip the tail securely andcannot be readily and easily applied, and these objectionable features are avoided by the present invention, which provides an appliance that can be tted to and will securely grip and hold the animals tail to the ease and comfort `of the milker.
The invention consists essentiall j of a joint and formed of similar members which move with the respective parts of the frame and are operated thereby. i
The improvement also consists in thenovel combination of the parts which hereinafter and specifically claimed. i i
In the accompanying drawings is illustrated an adaptation of the invention,al thoughchanges in the form, proportion, and the minor details of `construction may be re- In the saiddrawin gs, Figure 'l shows the invention applied. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the device as it will appear when placed Fig. 3 is a detail view of the jointed ends, showing them disconnected.
The same reference-numerals denote corresponding and like parts in all the figures of the drawings, and in the latter l indicates the jointed frame, and 2 the cord or rope by means of which the device is retained in place when properly fitted upon the animal. This cord one end of the frame, and the opposite end portion of the cord is rove througha series Patent No. 562,379, dared June 23,1896. j semina 564,5173. (rotanti `of openingsB at the opposite end of the frame, so as to admit of the cord being lengthened `or shortened to `adapt the device to different` sized animals. The cordis rovethrough the series of openings 3 in such a manner as to Ssfw `preventlits slipping after being properly ads j usted.
The frame is parts 4, which are hinged together at their in i composed of similarly-formed inner ends, and which curve symmetrically to conform to the rump ofthe animal. A clasp is formedopposite to the hinged parts on the concaved side of the frame, and comprises similar members 5, which are approximately of semicircular shape and which unitedly form a substantially circular fetter to encircle the cows tail. members 5 butttogether and limit the closing. of the parts/l. Each part 4 will be provided with a member 5, which may be applied thereto in any convenient manner; but for the `sake of simplicity and economy of construction the members 5 form an integral part of the respective frame -sections and are providedby recurving or folding a portion of the i parts 4' upon themselves, as shown most ,clearly in Fig. 3, and thefolds are opened sufficiently to provide for the reception of the pivot 6, by means of which the hinge-joint is had between the parts of the frame. By hav `ing the clasp disposed on the inner or concaved h side of the jointed frame it will occupy a position opposite the space formed between the buttocks and thereby be out of the way and `assist in retaining the device `improper position. j i
. Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new iss .s i
l. A cow-tail holder comprising a frame curving in its length and formed of `similar parts which are hinged together at theirinner ends, and having extensions projecting `inward from the `concave side of the frame contignousto the hinge-joint and oppositely curving to unitedly form a fetter or clasp whose passage is parallel with the said hingejoint so as to encircle the cow?s tail, substantially as described.
2. A cow-tail holder consisting of a frame The free ends of the formedof similar parts hinged together, al
