To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ALEXANDRE ,DnooEUR, a citizen of France, residing at Bendlikon, in the Canton of Zurich and Republic of Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Patents have been applied for in Switzerland June 3, 1890, No. 2,241; in France June 3, 1890, No. 206,116; in Germany June 5,1890; in Austria-Hungary June 11, 1890; in Belgiu 111 June 19, and in England June 19,1890, under No. 9,515.

The object of my invention is to produce a toy by means of which by compressing an elastic hollow ball a diversity of sounds can be obtained imitating the babys calling mam ma, papa, the cry of the parrot, the cock, the hen, the crying baby, &c.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a longitudinal section; Fig. 2, a side elevation; Fig. 3, a side view of the sounder and bell detached; and Fig. 4 is a detail of the hull or cap which surrounds the sounder.

The toy is composed of the elastic ball a, the sounding-tube b, and the flaring mouththe cap f. The mouth-piece has a groove g p to receive the elastic ball, which is provided with a corresponding hole. By squeezing the ball a the airit contains is displaced and finds its Way through the hole h of the cap f and sets into vibration the metal tongue i of the sounder 1). According to the manner in which the pressure of the fingers is exerted, rapidly or slowly, 850., and the way the mouth-piece is partly covered with the hollow of the other hand, a great variety of sounds can be produced.

This toy can be manufactured of different materials, and may be placed into-other toys or objects, as crying babys, caoutchouc animals, and similar hollow and elastic objects.

I claim In a toy, a hollow elastic ball a, fixed to a mouth-piece c, which is provided with a hole d, receiving a plug 6, inwhich is fastened the sounder b, and over which is kept fast the cap f, provided with a hole h.
