9 Claims. (Cl. 66-86) This invention relates to warp knitting machines. and more particularly to the arrangement of hangers carrying the guide bars.
In the hitherto customary warp knitting machines, the hangers carrying the warp guides have the tendency to vibrate upwardly and downwardly in their bearings during the operation of the machine. Holding means, for example springs, necessary to counteract this undesired vibration, impede the manipulation kof the hangers when they are manually lifted for threading operations or replacement of warp guides.
An object of this invention is to provide a hanger arrangement in a-warp knitting machine, by means of which these undesired vibrations may be overcome without the use of holding means whereby the construction of the machine is simplified and the manipulation of the hangers is facilitated.
Another object of the invention is to improve on the construction of warp knitting machines as now ordinarily made.
Other objects and structural details of the invention will be apparent from the following description when read inv conjunction with the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of hanger arrangements for carrying guide bars of a warp knitting machine, and
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. l.
Referring now to the drawings, li generally indicates a guide bar shaft journalled in suitable bearings (not shown) of the frame of a warp knitting machine. Said guide bar shaft 10 is oscillated in a suitable manner known per se by a suitable mechanism of thewarp knitting machine during the operation of the latter.
i vGroups of three brackets l2, 13 and 14 are arranged on the rockable guide bar shaft 10 in spaced relation to each other. Only one group is shown in the drawings. Each bracket l2, i3 and 14 is iixedly secured to the guide bar shaft 10 so that is participates in the rocking movements of the latter.l The bracket l2 has a downward extension 16, the bracket i3 has a downward extension 17 vand the bracket 14 has a downward extension 1S.
Referring now to the bracket 13, a plate 20 is rigidly connected with bracket i3 and its downward extension 17 by means of screws 22. An upper pair of hooklike engaging elements 24 and a lower engaging element 26 is secured to said plate 21B by means of screws Vor the like. Said hooklike engaging elements 24.- and 26 form a rectangular guiding slot 2S and 3% Vrespectively in conjunction with an inclined surface of the plate 2t). The axes a and b respectively of said rectangular guiding slots 2S and 30 respectively are arranged in a predetermined manner as will be described later on.
The upper bar 32 and the lower bar 34 of a hanger generally indicated by 36 (see Fig. 2) are slidably engaged with said upper and lower engaging elements 24 and 26 respectively.
i arent The upper and lower bars 32 and 34 respectively are inserted into the guiding slots 28 and 30 respectively formed by the engaging elements in conjunction with the inclined surface of the plate 2i). Thus, the hanger 36 is suspended from the bracket 13.
A guide bar 38 carrying a series of warp guides 40. is secured to the hanger 36 by screws 42.
During the operation of the warp knitting machine, the guide bar 38 extending longitudinally of the machine may perform reciprocating movements in the direction of the double arrow A in response to a guide bar controlling mechanism known per se, the bars 32 and 34 of the hanger 36 sliding in the slots 28 and 30 in a direction parallel to the direction of the longitudinal axis of the machine.
. Furthermore, as known per se, the guide bar 38 suspended through the medium of the hanger 36 from the bracket 13 is subject to rocking movements about the center B of the guide bar shaft 10' when the latter is rocked during-the operation of the machine.
Thus, during such rocking movements, a centrifugal force C is created which acts in the direction of a line c drawn between the center B of the shaft lil and the center D of gravity of the suspended masses. The axes a and b of the rectangular guiding slots 2S and 3b are parallel to said line c. Therefore during the operation of the machine the bars 32 and 34 of the hanger 36 are urged against the lower surfaces 44 and 46 respectively of said guiding slots 28 and Sil respectively, whereby the hanger 36 is prevented from undesired vibrations upwardly and downwardly. The action of the centrifugal force C sufces to overcome the tendency of the hanger to vibrate upwardly and downwardly during the operation of the machine, so that hitherto customary means for holding the bars 32 and 34 of the hanger 36 against the lower surface of the guiding slots may be omitted.
As best shown in Fig. l, a plate 48 secured to the downward extension 16 of the bracket i2 is provided with hooklike engaging elements 56 and 52. Bars 54 and 56 of a hanger 58 carrying the rear guide bar 60 are slidably engaged with said engaging elements Si) and 52 respectively. The guiding slots 62 and y54 formed by said guiding elements 5@ and S2 are tiitcd in such a way that their axes d and e are parallel to a line drawn between the center B of the guide bar shaft it) and the center E of gravity of the suspended masses. Therefore the centrifugal force F acting in the direction of the line between the points B and E has the tendency to urge the bars 54 and 56 against the bottoni of the guiding slots 62 and 64 so as to prevent the holder S5 and the guide bar 6b from an undesired vibration during the operation ofthe machine. f
In a similar manner a plate 6e attached to the downward extension 18 of the bracket 14 is provided'with guiding elements 63 and ' 7b forming slots 72 and 74 respectively for engagement with bars 76 and '78 respectively of a hanger Sti carrying the front guide bar 82. Again the slots i2 and 74 are tilted so that their axes f and g are parallel to a line drawn between the center B of the guide bar shaft 1t) and the center GA of gravity of the suspended masses. Thus the centrifugal force H acting along the line between the points Bland G tends to hold the hanger t? and the front guide bar 82 carried by the latter in their position during the operation of the machine.
In order to enable the operator `of the machine 'to obtain ready accessl to the warp guides Se of the rear warp guide 60, if for example yarns shall be threaded through the eyes of the warp guides 84%, the warp knittingmachine is provided with mechanisms for lifting the intermediate guide bar 38 and front guide bar S2.

As :best .shown -in Fig. .i .the .rear Aend of the lifting linger 36 :secured to the shaft .911i is arranged in a recess 92 of the bracket 13. The .front end portion of the vlifting finger 136 .passes through and ,projects from ka slot 94 of the plate Ztl attached to and rigid with the bracket It. As best shown vin Fig. .2, said slot 94 -is between the pair of hook-.like engaging elements 24. Thus, the lifting linger .86 is covered by the body of the bracket i3, so that yarns of the sheet of yarns extending from 'the warp beams to the Warp guides 43 are prevented from entanglement with the lifting mechanism.
The sha-ft 9i) ro'ckably mounted in suitable ybearings is rigidly connected wit an arm 96, which in turn is pivotal-ly `connected with a rod 98 controlled in a suitable manner by an actuating mechanism (not shown.) for actuating `the lifting linger 86 at will.
In a similar manner, the lifting linger 53 secured to a rockable shaft i190 is covered by the bracket 1d and projects through and from a slot itl?. of lthe plate 6o. The lifting tingsr 8S may be actuated -by the actuating mechanism (not shown) through the 'medium of the linkage 1M, 106, w8.
We have described preferred embodiments of our invention, but it is understood that this disclosure is for the purpose of illustration, and that various omissions or changes in shape, proportion and arrangement of parts, as well as the substitution of equivalent elements for those herein shown and described may be made without departing in any way from the spirit and scope of this invention as set forth in the appended claims.
What we claim is:
l l.. in a warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar shaft, a bracket secured to said guide Ibar shaft, and a hanger suspended from said bracket and arranged for carrying a guide bar, said hanger being fully movable and liftable relative to said bracket in a direction substantially parallel and opposite to the direction of the centrifugal force generated upon a, rocking movement of said guide bar shaft, said hanger being freely `slide-ble with respect to said bracket.
2. ln a warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar shaft, a bracket secured to said guide bar shaft, a hanger arranged for carrying a guide bar, first engaging means arranged on said bracket, and second engaging means arranged on Isaid hanger and engaged with said first engaging means for suspending said hanger from said bracket, said cooperating engaging means being fully slid-able relative to each other in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of said guide rbar shaft and in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of the centrifugal force generated upon a rockingmovement of said guide bar shaft.
3. In a Warp knitting machine, the combination of: a roekable guide bar shaft, a bracket secured to said guide bar shaft, and a hanger suspended from said bracket and arranged for carrying a guide bar, said hanger being freely movable and liftable relative to said bracket in `a direction substantially parallel to a line connecting the center of said guido bar shaft with the center of gravity of the' liftable masses in' a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the guide bar shaft, said hanger being freely slid-able with respect to said bracket.

In a warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar shaft, a bracket secured to said guide bar shaft, a hanger arranged for carrying a guide bar, first engaging means arranged on said bracket, and second engaging means arranged on said hanger and engaged with said first engaging means for suspending said hanger d from said bracket, said cooperating engaging` means being freely slidable relative to each other in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of said guide bar shaft and in a direction substantially parallel to a line connecting the center of said guide bar lshaft with the center of gravity of the suspended masses in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal 4axis of the guide bar.
5. ln a Warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide ibar shaft, a group of Va plurality of brackets secured toA said guide Ibar shaft, rsaid brackets being arranged behind one another, land =a number of hangers equal to the number of brackets, each hanger `being suspended from one `of said brackets and being arranged for carrying a guide bar, each hanger being freely movable and liftable relative to its associated 'bracket in a direction substantially parallel and opposite to the direction of the centrifugal force generated upon a rocking movement -of said guide bar shaft.

In a Warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar shaft, a group of la plurality `of brackets 'secured to said guide bar shaft, said brackets being arranged behind one another, a number of hangers equal to the number of brackets, each hanger being asso-v ciated with one 'of Vsaid brackets and being arranged for carrying a 'guide bar, first engaging means arranged on each bracket, and second engaging means arranged on each hanger, said second engaging means of each of said hangers being engaged with said iirst engaging means of an associated bracket for suspending lsaid hanger from its associated bracket, said cooperating engaging means 'of each associated bracket and hanger being freely slidable relative to each other in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of said guide bar shaft and in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of the centrifugal force generated upon a rocking movement of said guide 'bar shaft.
7. In a warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar shaft, a bracket secured to said guide har shaft, a hanger suspended from said bracket and arranged for carrying a guide bar, said hanger being lift able relative to said 'bracket in a direction substantially parallel and opposite to the direction of the centrifugal force generated upon a rocking movement of said guide bar shaft, said bracket having a slot, and a rockable lifting element, said lifting element passing through said slot and being arranged for `cooperation with said hanger.
8. In a Warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar shaft, a bracket secured to said guide `bar shaft, a hanger liftably suspended from said bracket and arranged for carrying a guide bar, said bracket having a slot, and a rockable lifting element, said lifting element passing through said slot and being arranged for cooperation with said hanger.
9. In a warp knitting machine, the combination of: a rockable guide bar `sha-ft, a ybracket secured te said guide bar shaft, a `pair of spaced engaging elements arranged on said bracket, a hanger for carrying a guide bar, said hanger 'being slidabl'y engaged with said pair of engaging elements, said bracket having a slot between said spaced engaging elements, and a rockable lifting element, said lifting element passing through said s'lot and being arranged for cooperation With said hanger.
