Description

BOX HOLDER n Filed Nov. 14, 1952 I'NVENTOR.
Patented May 11, 1954 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
The present invention relates to a box holder and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and. claimed.
Generally there is provided a box holder formed of a single piece of wire of sufficient strength to hold a box therein and so bent that the box to be placed therein will fit snugly therein and be supported thereby. One feature of the invention is the provision of novel means for suspending the thus formed box holder upon a suitable standard or wall.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a device of the character set forth which may be formed of a single piece of wire.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character set forth which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and yet effective and efficient in use.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification taken in conjunction with the drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention showing a box to be supported thereby in dotted lines.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, there is shown therein a box holder of the character set forth comprising a horizontally extending outer bar 8 to the ends of which is integrally connected a pair of rearwardly extending arms 7 which, in turn, have integrally connected therewith in each case a downwardly extending arm 8. Integrally formed with each of the lower arms 6 is an inwardly and horizontally extending arm to the inner end of which in each case is integrally formed a rearwardly and horizontally extending arm 4. To the rear end of each of the arms 4 is integrally connected a vertically extending arm 3 the upper end of each of which is formed as a hook 2. When desired, instead of the hooks 2 the upper ends of the arms 3 may be formed as eyes for the reception of screws or the like therethrough.
In the preferred form of the invention illustrated herein, it will be apparent that the arms I and 6 may take other courses so long as they remain in a plane perpendicular to the vertical plane in which the bar 8 lies. Likewise it will be apparent that the arms 5 and 4 may take other courses so long as they remain in a plane perpendicular to the vertical plane in which the arms 6 and 5 lie. Again, while it is preferred that the arms 3 extend vertically, it will be apparent that they may extend at other angles so long as they remain in a plane perpendicular to the horizontal plane in which the arms 5 and 4 lie.
In use, it will be apparent that a container such as is indicated in dotted lines may be placed in the device and supported thereby, the arms 5 and 4 supporting the bottom of such box while the arms 1 and 6 support the sides thereof and the bar 8 supports the front wall of such container, the arms 3 supporting the rear wall thereof. It will also be apparent that the books 2 (or eyes as the case may be) may be utilized for hanging the device upon a wall or other support or standards.
While but one form of the invention. has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a horizontal bar, a rearwardly extending arm afiixed to each end of said bar, a downwardly extending arm affixed to each rearwardly extending arm, an inwardly extending horizontal arm affixed to each downwardly extending arm, a rearwarclly and horizontally extending bottom arm afiixed to each of said inwardly extending horizontal arms, an upwardly extending arm affixed to the rear of each support arm, and a hook formed integrally with the upper end of each of said upwardly extending arms.
2. A device as defined in claim 1 wherein all of the parts thereof are formed of a single continuous piece of wire.
