Patented Nov. 28, 1950 3 Claims.
1 This invention relates to a lady sgarment, and has particular reference-tea novel slip and blouse 'ensemble in which --the" waist portion of the slip has a'removablefrontyandin an armless blouse is-attachedtoand removable-w1tlf=- the front of said waist portion of the slip, whereby a plurality of the slip fronts with attached blouses which vary in color, style and kind of fabric may be interchangeably employed with the remaining major portion of the slip to suit the particular dress or like outer garment worn over the slip.
An object of the inventionis to provide an ensemble of the above kind which may be readily and cheaply manufactured, and which is convenient to use and highly satisfactory in use.
The exact nature of the present invention, as well as other objects and features thereof, will become apparent from the following description when considered with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a slip and blouse ensemble embodying the present invention; v
Figure 2 is a rear elevational view thereof;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the upper portion of the slip forming part of the garment shown in Figure 1, with the front of the waist portion of the slip removed;
Figure 4 is a view partly in front elevation and partly in section, of the removable front for the waist portion of the slip and the attached blouse, said blouse being turned downwardly from the slip front and having the back thereof disposed in operative relation to the front of the same;
Figure 5 is an inside plan view of the slip front and blouse unit shown in Figure 4, looking at the inside thereof when laid out fiat;
Figure 6 is an enlarged horizontal section taken on the line 6-6 of Figure 1 through the front portion of the garment, and partly broken away. Referring in detail to the drawings, the ensemble includes a slip A having an upper waist portion 5 and a lower skirt portion 6. The sides and back of the waist portion 5 are integral with the side and back panels '1 and 8 of the skirt portion 5, which skirt portion also includes a front panel 9. The panels I and 8 are bias-cut and the panel 9 is straight-cut to provide a formfitting garment having circumferential elasticity, and to prevent the slip from riding up when the wearer assumes a sitting posture.
The waist portion includes a removable front H provided with breast pockets l0, and shoulder straps I2 are attached to the peaks of the breast-:pockets.: Suitableemeanssis providedwito detachably connect :the sideandsbottom 'edgesi. oftheaemovablerfronti with theLfront edg'ezpor tions; 5: ofitheiisidesri'of the waist portion and: with ethe top"redge'.-'porti0n".9"."of: the 'front skirt 1 panel 9, such as buttons 13 sewed on said edges of the removable front and engageable in buttonholes l4 provided in said edges of the sides of the waist portion and of the front skirt panel. Rings l5 are carried by loops 16 attached to the upper edge of the back of the waist portion, and the free ends of the shoulder straps are separably connected to the back of the waist portion by passing them through these rings, and then securing said straps in said rings by suitable means, such as by folding said ends and fastening them to the adjacent portions of the straps by the use of coacting buttonholes l1 and buttons is of said straps.
The ensemble also includes an armless blouse B which is attached to the removable front of the waist portion of the slip and is removable with said front from the remainder of the slip. The blouse consists of an elongated sheet of material having a neck opening [9 and adapted to be folded on a transverse line to provide a front 2!] and a back 2!. The blouse front 20 is suitably embellished and may be trimmed with a jabot 22. The blouse back 2| is longitudinally slitted from the back of the neck opening as at 23 and provided with separable means to secure the slit closed as at 24, after passing the wearers head through the neck opening. The lower edge of the front 20 is sewed at 25 to the slip front I ll, H, and the lower edge portion of the back 2! is suitably separably connected to the upper edge portion 2| of the back of the waist portion of the slip by suitable means, such as by buttons 26 sewed on the outside of the lower edge portion of the back 2! and engaged in buttonholes 2! provided in the back of the waist portion of the slip. The front of the blouse overlies the front of the waist portion of the slip, and the shoulder straps l2 are passed through loops 28 provided on the inside of the blouse at its shoulder portions, so that said straps are properly held in place over the wearers shoulders. By attaching the blouse front to the removable slip front, the former is held down in proper position when being worn.
From the foregoing description, it is believed that the construction, manner of use and advantages of the present invention will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art. Modifications and changes in details of construction are contemplated, such as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim is:
1. In a slip and blouse ensemble, a slip including a sleeveless and shoulderless waist portion and a skirt portion, the sides and back of said waist portion being integral with the sides and back of the skirt portion, said waist portion including a removable front having side and bottom edges and provided with breast pockets, said front being separably connected at its side and bottom edges to the front side edge portions of the sides of said Waist portion and to the upper edge portion of the front of said skirt portion, shoulder straps attached to the breast pockets, and means to detachably connect said shoulder straps to the upper edge of the back of said waist portion.
2. The construction defined in claim 1, in combination with an armless blouse including a front and a back, said blouse front overlying and being attached at its lower edge to the lower edge of said removable slip front, and means to detachably connect the lower edge of 20 Number the blouse back to the upper edge of the back of said waist portion.
3. The construction defined in claim 1, in combination with an armless blouse including a front and a back, said blouse front overlying and being attached at its lower edge to the lower edge of said removable slip front, and means to detachably connect the lower edge of the blouse back to the upper edge of the back of said Waist portion, and loops on the inside of the blouse at its shoulder portions, said shoulder straps passing through said loops.
