UNITED STATES ATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to a circular baby bed and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and claimed.
Generally there is provided a circular shaped baby bed formed of a plurality of vertically extending rounded panels which are affixed to a circular bottom member and a circular partition member. Upon the' partition member there is supported a pair of mattresses and four drawers are slidably mounted between the bottomand the partition members. The whole is supported upon casters so that it may be moved from place to place with ease. Between the bottom and the partition there is provided a square abutment which acts as a stop for the drawers so that the outer sides thereof are kept in alignment with the side panels of the bed.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a deviceof the character set forth which is simple and economical in its construction and yet ecient and effective in its use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a novel arrangement of drawers in a device of the character set forth.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of the character set forth which will lend itself to novel decorative effects.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a babys bed in which access may be had to the baby from any angle thereof.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification taken in conjunction with the drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of an embodiment of the' invention,
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof,
Figure '3 is a sectional '"view taken along line 3-3 of Figure 2,
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken along line 4 4 of Figure 3, and
Figure 5 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken along line 5-5 of Figure 3.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, there is shown therein a lcircular babys bed comprising a circular bottom member I upon which is centrally ailixed a square abutment II and upon the latter there is mounted a circular partition member I2.
To the outer edges of the bottom Ill and the partition I2 is affixed by means of screws I3 or the like four vertically disposed panels I4 which are preferably formed of relatively thick hard wood and which are joined to each other by means of embedded metallic fasteners I5.
An opening I6 is formed in each of the panels I4 to provide entry for a drawer I1 in each of the panels I4 and between the bottom I0 and the partition I2.
Each drawer Il is provided with a rear wall I8 and a front wall I9. The front wall is curved to the contour of the panel I4, and is provided with a handle 2l). Casters 2| are mounted upon the bottom of the entire device.
It will be seen that the abutment II will limit the inward movement of the drawers I1, the rear walls I8 thereof coming into contact with such abutment.
A box spring mattress 22 rests upon the partition I2 and a pad 23 is placed over the box spring mattress 22. The outer sides of the panel I@ may be decorated with carvings or other devices and, if desired, sea shells may be utilized in forming the handles 20.
It will be apparent that the drawers I1 may be utilized for the storage of Various articles for use with the baby and that the circular shape of the device will permit access to the baby from any angle.
While but one form of the invention has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:
A device of the character described comprising a circular bottom member, a circular partition vertically spaced from said bottom member, and of slightly larger size than said bottom member, sides composed of vertically extending rounded panels each having a drawer opening therein and each affixed to said bottom member and to said partition, a vertically extending square abutment centrally mounted upon the bottom member and interconnecting the bottom member and said partition, a drawer slidably extending through each of the drawer openings and between said partition and said bottom member, casters affixed to the underside of the bottom member, a box spring upon the partition and a pad upon the box spring, said drawers each having a front wall conforming in contour with its associated panel and said panels being interconnected along their sides by metallic embedded fasteners.
