3 Claims. (Cl. 46-129) This invention relates to a jumping toy.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a jumping toy which can be depressed from the head to cause the several joints to be collapsed and then upon being released and upon the elastics tending to shorten themselves will cause a jumping and somersault action of the toy and wherein the feet portions have suflicient size to normally permit the toy to be held upright and are resilient so as to permit the tilting movement of the leg elements.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a jumping toy which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, made of an assembly of elements pivotally connected together by pivot pins and movable relative to one another and eflicient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the toy in the standing position.
Fig. 2 is an illustrative side elevational view of the toy being depressed before it is released to permit the toy to turn over.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 1 and showing the resilient foot portion.
Referring now to the iigures, I represents a body having inwardly extending shoulder portions II and I2 to which arms I3 and I4 are respectively connected by a long pivot pin I5. A head I6 having a neck portion I'I is pivoted on the rod I between the shoulder portions II and I2.
Connected to the lower portion of the body and at the opposite sides thereof are respectively upper leg elements I8 and I 9. These leg elements are connected by a through pivot pin 2I. Spacer elements 22 are located between the respective legs and the body I0.
The lower end of each upper leg is bifurcated as indicated at 23. A lower leg 24 extends upwardly through the biiurcated portion and is pivoted by a pin 25 thereto. A resilient foot 26 is xed to the lower end of the lower leg 24. The foot being resilient permits the tilting of the leg 24 to an angle as shown in Fig. 1.
On the upper end of each lower leg as it extends above the upper leg is an eye 21. An elastic 28 is connected from the eye on one leg upwardly to an eye 3l on the upper end of the upper leg, an eye 32 on the lower end of the neck portion I1 of the head I6, eye 33 on the other leg I9 and is 2 nallly connected to eye 22 on the other lower leg 2 As the toy is depressed at the head, the elastic 28 is stretched and upon the toy being released the elastics contract and cause a jumping of the toy into the air to follow the line shown generally above Fig. 2 and having an arrow thereon.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be Within the spirit and scope of the present invention as dened by the appended claims.
Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of my invention, what is claimed is:
1. A jumping toy comprising a main body, a head pivoted on the main body, upper legs pivoted respectively on the opposite sides of the main body, lower legs pivoted to the ends of the upper legs and extending above the same, said lower legs having feet portions thereon, an operating elastic extending between the upper ends of the lower legs, through the upper ends of the upper legs and through the lower end of the head whereby upon the toy being depressed, the elastic will be stretched and upon the toy being released spring action is eiected.
2. A jumping toy comprising a main body, a head pivoted on the main body, upper legs pivoted respectively on the opposite sides of the main body, lower legs pivoted to the ends of the upper legs and. extending above the same, said lower legs having feet portions thereon, an operating elastic extending between the upper ends of the lower legs, through the upper ends of the upper legs and through the lower end of the head whereby upon the toy being depressed, the elastic will be stretched and upon the toy being released spring action is eiected, and said feet portions being formed of resilient rubber in order to permit the tilting movement of the lower legs.
