Description

Dec. 6, 1949 GRADARA 2,490,351
BRAssIERE: AND GARTER BELT Filed Dec. 21, 1946 IN VEN TOR.
ATTORNEY Patented Dec. 6, 1949 UNITED STATES GFFICE 2 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in brassieres and particularly to a combination brassire and hose supporter.
Broadly, it is an object of my invention to provide a brassire with elastic hose supporters arranged so that the parts of the body are not re stricted in their movements nor will constriction or binding take place at any part, especially the stomach, making it exceptionally comfortable and desirable for pregnant women.
A further object is to provide a combined brassiere and hose support which is practical, ornamental, attractive, comfortable and comparatively inexpensive and which can be worn underneath a large variety of outergarments. A further object is to provide a combined undergarment described above which is also light and cool and fully perform the necessary desired functions.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, reference is had to the following detailed de scription in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a side view of the brassiere and hose support in position upon the body of a woman.
Figure 2 is a front view thereof, and
Figure 3 is a front plan view thereof.
Referring to the drawings, numeral ll} represents a brassiere body preferably made of nonstretchable material and fashioned to conform to the contour of the bust by providing a seam ll running along the center of each bust to the nipple point. The two bust portions are joined in the centre by seam l2 and the lower portions of both busts are reinforced by a superimposed fabric 15 on the inside as shown in the drawings which is stitched along dotted stitch lines I4. Side and back portions l5 are attached by stitching is at the sides. and side seams are reinforced by stitched ribbons. The lower part of the entire brassiere has attached thereto an elastic member ll which causes the lower part of the brassiere to hug the body. At one end there is a hook l8 and at the opposite end several eyes ie for adjustability. A. pair of shoulder straps 2d are attached at one end to the upper center of the bust portion and at the opposite end to the upper end of the side and back portions l5.
Attached to the lower central part of the brassiere are a pair of crossed elastic members 2| running d agonally across the front towards the sides. Attached to each of the lower extreme ends of the side and back members I5 is a diag- The top edge, bottom edge onal elastic member 22 which crosses the diagonal member 2| at the upper part of the thigh as shown at 2%. Elastic members 2! and 22 have hose clasps 24 attached to each end. The members 2! are crossed almost at the point of attachment 25 at the center of the brassiere and run diagonally so that they do not constrict the expansion and contraction of the stomach. Crossing the elastics at 23 at the upper part of the thigh is the point of least movement of the limbs so that the maximum amount of freedom is permitted without constriction. Furthermore, running the elastic members 2i and 22 diagonally follows the direction of the ligaments so that the muscles are aided in their movements.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the general spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A ladies garment of the character described comprising in combination a brassiere portion, a body encircling member attached to said brassiere portion, means for fastening said body encircling member at its ends, shoulder straps connected to the upper part of said brassiere portion and said body encircling member with two front elastic supporter members connected to the lower central part of said brassiere portion, said elastic members crossing and attached to each other adjacent said central lower brassiere portion and two rear elastic supporter members attached to the rear ends of said body encircling member, said front and rear supporter members crossing one another and attached to each other at such crossing portions at a short distance from their ends opposite said attached ends and hose clasps at each end of said front and rear elastic supporter members.
2. A ladies garment of the character described comprising in combination a brassiere portion, a body encircling member attached to said brassiere portion, the ends of said body encircling member meeting at the back of the wearer, means for fastening said body encircling member at its ends, shoulder straps connected to the upper part of said brassiere portion and said body encircling member with two front elastic supporter members connected to the lower central part of said brassire portion, said elastic members crossing and attached to each other at the central upper part of the stomach of the wearer and two rear elastic supporter members attached to the rear ends of said body encircling member, said front and rear supporter members crossing one another 3 and attached to each other at the point where UNITED STATES PATENTS said front and rear supporter members cross one another, said crossing point of said front and rear 322 5 g zg Jan 2% supporter members being approximately at the 835996 Wells 1906 central side upper thighs of the wearer and hose 5 1 1413754 gf Jun'e 1915 clasps at each end of said front and rear elastic 1718819 Hauser "June 1929 supporter members. 2315930 Burke A pr. 6, 1943 NANCY GRADARA' 2,352,367 Bujdossy June 27, 1944 REFERENCES CITED 10 FOREIGN PATENTS The following references are of record in the Number Country Date file of this patent: 182,702 Switzerland May 16, 1936
