- My present invention in its broad aspect, has reference to improvements in combined apple slicers and corers, and more particularly, it is my purpose to provide a slicer wherein a plurality of blades are uniquely and practically mounted to radiate diagonally from a point adjacent a common center where the corer is located. Furthermore, my corer is so formed that the handle is received therein and is provided with improved means for guiding the core to remove it from the corer, and the supporting frame for the knives has an improved mounting so that the complete device is simple, sturdy and practical, and can be manufactured and sold at relatively small cost, and carried as an essential utensil in all kitchens.

4 Claims.
My present invention, in its broad aspect, has reference to improvements in combined apple slicers and corers, and more particularly, it is my purpose to provide a slicer wherein a plurality of blades are uniquely and practically mounted to radiate diagonally from a point adjacent a common center where the corer is located. Furthermore, my corer is so formed that the handle is received therein and is provided with improved means for guiding the core to remove it from the corer, and the supporting frame for the knives has an improved mounting so that the complete device is simple, sturdy and practical, and can be manufactured and sold at relatively small cost, and carried as an essential utensil in all kitchens.
Other and equally important and advantages of my invention will be apparent from the following description and drawings, but it is to be understood that changes in form, size, shape, materials, construction and arrangement of parts, may be made within the purview of my broad inventive concept, provided same fall within the scope of what is claimed.
In the drawing wherein I have illustrated a preferred form of my invention:

Figure 5 is a section showing the rim and clamping or attaching ring for the knife blades;
Figure 6 is a plan view of a fragmentary portion of the blank from which the sleeve of the device is formed, and
Figure 7 is a transverse sectional view of the sleeve.
Figure 8 is a fragmentary vertical section of a modiedform of the invention.
In the drawing:
The numeral I designates a hollow cylindrical sleeve-like member which has a sharpened lower edge 2 to serve as a corer. An oval lateral opening 3 is formed in the side of the corer I, and adjacent the bottom edge are a plurality of circumferentially arranged and equally spaced slots 4 -to receive the reduced butts 5 of knife blades 6 which radiate outwardly from the corer and have their knife edges aligned with the sharpened edge of the corer. The opposite ends of the knife blades Ii are provided with reduced extensions 'I similar to the butts 5 which extend in open slots 8 in a circular supporting frame 9. A retaining or clamping ring I0 goes about the frame under the extensions 1 to retain-the blades in `place and is preferably l soldered fast at several places. The frame is engaged by three or more supporting wires II which are attached to the upper end of the corer as at I2 and have their lower ends bent as at I3 to be received through openings in the frame. There are shown 8 blades, but there may be either more or less blades.
The handle I4 has a reduced part I5 formed with an oblique end wall I6. The reduced part is received in the corer and the oblique end wall lies back of the oval opening 3-see Figure 3-to guide and direct the core A of the apple B out through the opening. At the same time, the apple is sliced, and the slices are equal in size and the core part removed.
I claim:
1. A combined corer and slicer, comprising a hollow cylindrical member having sharpened lower edges and an opening in its side, a handle having a reduced extension tting in the cylindrical member and having an oblique end wall disposed adjacent the opening, horizontally disposed circumferentially radiating knife blades having ends fixed to the cylindrical member, a frame engaging the opposite ends of the knives and outwardly and Vdownwardly extending anchoring members for the frame member attached at their upper ends to the cylindricalmember.
2. The invention as defined in claim 1 wherein the opening inthe cylindrical member is oval, and the cylindrical member formed with slots in its lower end to receive the ends of the knives, and the frame member slotted to receive the other ends of the knives.
3. The invention as dened in claim 1 wherein the knives have reduced end extensions fitting into slots in the cylindrical member and frame member, and wherein an annular securing ring goes about the frame member to hold the knives therein.
