` 1 Claim. (o1. 2f-321) V This invention relates to improvements in wearing appar-el and more particularly toa body j belt.

It is an object of this invention to provide la body belt to be worn within the trousers so that i attachment of Suspenders. The distance between the buttons of the respective pairs of buttons varies in accordance with the size of the waistband. The buttons of the rear pair are equally spaced apart from the rear center of the waistband and the buttons forming the pairs for attachment to the front straps of the Suspenders are usually spaced between the transverse center of the waistband and the front opening or ily of the trousers.

This invention contemplates the provision of a body belt which will be provided with button holes or other means of attachment for engagement with the suspender buttons, and of course, will be of different dimensions for different waist lines. This body belt also contemplates the provision of a particular form of buckle or means for joining the opposite ends of the belt at the rear of the fly or front opening of the trousers. It is also customary torprovide a. button on the outer flap of the fly passing through a button hole upon the inner flap of the ily below the usual button for buttoning the upper portions of the y together. This invention contemplates the provision of a loop on the buckle `or securing means which will pass over and engage the lower button which passes through the inner nap of the fly to the interior of the trousers whereby the Afront of the trousers will be maintained even with the sides and back.

The advantage of this construction is readily seen and will appeal to those who wear trousers or slacks who take pride in their appearance as the trousers or slacks will be properly supported by invisible means and provide an even line of demarcation between the trousers and other garments about the waist.

With4 these and other objects in view, reference is made to the accompanying sheet of drawings which illustrates a preferred form of this invention with the understanding that detail changes may be made therein Without departing from the scope thereof.

Figure 4 is a View in vertical transverse section taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 2 illustrating the frictional adjusting means of the clamp attachment to one end of the body belt.

The embodiment of the invention illustrated includes a body belt I of fabric, leather or any desired material which is provided with slits or button holesor any other desired means 2 for attachment and so spaced apart about the belt I as to be engaged by or attached to the suspender buttons 3 secured upon the inside of the waistband 41 of the trousers 5.

The free ends B and I of the body belt I at the front are secured to each other by a buckle preferably in the form shown in Figure 2 which includes a rectangular frame 8 of metal, plastic or any desired material which is provided with loops 9 for attachment to the Afree ends of the body belt I. This frame 8 is also provided with a depending loop I0 which is for the purpose of being passed over and engaged with the iiy button II projecting through the trousers to the interior thereof.

It is preferable to attach the free end 6 of the body belt I to the loop 9 upon the side of the buckle 8 by passing the free end through the loop 9 and bending it back upon itself with the free end attached to the main portion by snapfasteners I2. It is preferable to pass the free end from the outer side of the belt through the loop 9 so that the snap-fasteners will be upon the body side of the belt. It is to be understood that any typel of adjustable fastening means may be employed so that the buckle may be properly adjusted for the loop I0 to engage the button I I. It is preferable to provide the other free end 'I of the body belt I with a clasp I3 having at one end a tongue I4 bent in the form of a hook for engagement with the loop 9 on that side of the buckle 8. Itis preferable to provide this clasp I3 with an adjustable frictional engaging clamp I5 maintained between the bent-up edges I6 of the clasp I3 at the end opposite the tongue I 4 which is a conventional or commercial form of adjusting means'andshown in enlarged detail in Figure 4. It is preferable to secure the clasp I3 on the end of the belt on the right hand side of the ily as in male trousers the left hand side of the ily laps over on the outside so that the button II would be buttoned through the inner portion of the ily and the loop of the buckle 8 will be engaged therewith before the right hand end clasp is engaged with the buckle.

It is the custom at the present tiine in making mens trousers and slacks with either ily buttons 0r a zipper fly front with one button II near the top sewed upon the exterior of the waistband to pass through a button hole yI8 upon the outside of the waistband as shown in Figure l and with another button II sewed upon the interior of the opposite portion of the fly to be buttoned through a button hole I9 upon the overlapped orv inner portion of the fly so that this button II projects v supporting means for the trousers will be invisible from the exterior.

This invention is particularly advantageous for summer slacks for both men and women when no coat is worn and is also particularly advantageous for the use by men in connection with their regular Weight trousers who have the habit of removing their coat and vest during working hours or hours of relaxation at home and who hesitate to do so becauserthey are wearing suspenders or braces with the supporting straps passing over the shoulders.

What I claim is:

`An invisible body belt for supporting trousers provided with means for engaging the suspender buttons secured upon the inner side of the waistband of the trousers, a rectangular buckle having vertical slots on each side, one end of the belt adapted to be passed through one slot and 20 detachably secured to the inner side of the belt,

the other end of the belt provided with an adjustable clasp having a tongue adapted to be passed through the other slot and engage the buckle, said buckle having a depending integral 25 loop adapted to be engaged over a button sewed upon the inner side of the trousers fly.
