IMPROVEMENT IN INDIA-RUBBER BOOTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 2l.9,016, dated August 26, 1879; application filed March 31, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EVERETT B. PRESTON, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new Improvement in India-Rubber Boots; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon,'to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a side view.
This invention relates to an improvement in the pull or loop for india-rubber boots, the object being to dispense with the usual loose or free loop; and it consists in the construction, as hereinafter described, and particularly recited in the claim.
The general form of the leg of the boot is that of the usual construction, but immaterial to the invention.
Through opposite sides of the boot-leg an aperture, to, is made, of circular or other convenient shape, of sufficient size to admit the finger, and in the manufacture of the boot a cord or stay, d, is introduced between the rubber outside and the lining.
The herein-described improvement in pulls for india-rubber boots, consisting of the apertures a, made in opposite sides of the leg, combined with a stay around said aperture, intro,- duced,'in the process of manufacture, between the outside and lining, and secured by the process of vulcanization, substantially as described.
