Description
Patented Mar. 3, 1 936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application August 31,
3 Claims.
This invention relates to a tile, the general object of the invention being to provide means for causing the tile to be locked to the cement or the like of a Wall to which the tile is connected This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and .arrangement of several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in Which:-
Figure 1 is a face view of the tile.
Figure 2 is an edge View thereof.
Figure 3 is a View of the inner face of the tile.
In this drawing, the numeral l indicates the tile and, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, strips 2 of corrugated metal are held to the rear face of the tile by having their ends 2 embedded in the tile and also by having points 3 punched from the grooved part of these strips entering the tile. The ribs formed by the corrugations of the strips have tongues 4 punched therefrom for entering the cement or other material of the Wall which is to be covered by the tiles. As it will be understood the entire exposed portions of the strips are embedded in this cement so that the tile is firmly held in place and projections 5 may be formed on those portions of the ends of the strips which are embedded in the tile and these portions are also corrugated as shown in dotted lines in Figure 2. The tongues 3 and 4 are simply punched from the metal and 'the metal forming these tongues will split to provide irregular spaced tongues.
It is thought from the foregoing description 1934, Serial N0. 742,327
that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall Within the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed isz- 1. A tile comprising a body, a corrugated strip, the corrugations of which form ribs on both faces of the strip, the ends of the strip being embedded in the body with the ribs on one face contacting the rear face of the body, tongues on said ribs entering the body, the corrugations of the strip entering the material of a Wall When the body is placed against the Wall and tongues on the ribs of the other face of the strip for entering the material of the Wall.
2. A tile comprising a body, a corrugated strip,
the corrugations of which form ribs on both d faces of the strip, the ends of the strip being embedded in the bodx7 with the ribs on one face contacting the rear face of the body, tongues on said ribs entering the body, the corrugations of the strip entering the material of a Wall When the body is placed against the Wall and tongues on the ribs of the other face of the strip for entering the material of the Wall, and the ends of the strip which are embedded in the body being corrugated and having tongues thereon.
3. A tile comprising a body, a corrugated strip, the corrugations of which form ribs on both faces of the strip, the ends of the strip being 01T- set and entering the body, the ribs of one face contacting the rear face of the body and the corrugations of the strip entering the material of the wall when the body is placed against the wall.
