- The disclosure relates to cleaning devices and more particularly pertains to a new cleaning device for cleaning and sanitizing under nails.
- The prior art relates to cleaning devices for nails of the fingers and toes. Such prior art nail cleaning devices may comprise pointed rods, swabs impregnated with cleaning solutions, and dispensing devices with and without brushes.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a rod, which has a chamber, a channel, and a set of holes positioned therein. The holes are positioned proximate to a first end of the rod. The channel extends from the chamber to the set of holes so that the holes are in fluidic communication with the chamber. A liquid positioned is the chamber and is positioned to flow through the channel and the holes.
- A plurality of bristles is engaged to and extends from the rod proximate to the first end. The rod is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user, positioning the user to manipulate the bristles under a nail of a finger or a toe to dislodge debris therefrom. The liquid is configured to flow onto the nail to flush the debris therefrom.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a nail cleaning device according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an end view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 7 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new cleaning device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 7 , thenail cleaning device 10 generally comprises arod 12, which has achamber 14, achannel 16, and a set ofholes 18 positioned therein. Theholes 18 are positioned proximate to afirst end 20 of therod 12. The set ofholes 18 may comprise twoholes 18, or other number ofholes 18, such as onehole 18 or three ormore holes 18. Thechannel 16 extends from thechamber 14 to the set ofholes 18 so that theholes 18 are in fluidic communication with thechamber 14. Thechamber 14 is substantially centrally positioned within therod 12. - A
liquid 22 is positioned thechamber 14 and is positioned to flow through thechannel 16 and theholes 18. Theliquid 22 may comprise alcohol, or other sanitizing fluid, such as, but not limited to, solutions of soap, chlorhexidine, and cetrimide. - A plurality of
bristles 24 is engaged to and extends from therod 12 proximate to thefirst end 20. Therod 12 is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user, positioning the user to manipulate thebristles 24 under a nail of a finger or a toe to dislodge debris therefrom. Theliquid 22 is configured to flow onto the nail to flush the debris therefrom. - The
rod 12 is bendable and thedevice 10 may comprise ashell 26, which lines thechamber 14 and contains theliquid 22. Theshell 26 is frangible and is configured to be broken upon bending of therod 12 so that theliquid 22 flows from thechamber 14 through thechannel 16 and theholes 18. - An
implement 28 is engaged to asecond end 30 of therod 12 and is configured to scrape under a nail. Theimplement 28 comprises aspade 32, which is rigid, or aprong 34, which is resiliently bendable. Thespade 32 comprises plastic. Theprong 34 comprises elastomer, rubber, or silicone. - In use, the
rod 12 is grasped in a hand of the user and used to manipulate thebristles 24 under the nail to dislodge debris. Theliquid 22 flows from thechamber 14 through thechannel 16 and theholes 18 onto the nail to flush the debris from under the nail. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the elements is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
