Description
- This application is related to and claims benefit to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 63/061,866, filed Aug. 6, 2020, entitled HAT WITH INTERCHANGEABLE INDICIA MEMBERS, the entirety of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- The present invention relates to hat accessory device and system, and more particularly to a device and system for a hat with interchangeable accessary indicia for display about the hat.
- Hats are generally decorated on the forward facing portion above the hat bill or brim with permanent screen printed or embroidered indicia, such as logos, sports teams, characters, business indicia, and more. Many sports fans will wear hats with their favorite sports team logo. Kids wear hats, such as baseball caps, when playing for organized sports leagues, and may have unique logos and/or individual number stitched to the hat, such as the front, side(s) and/or back of the hat.
- There is a need in the art for a hat with interchangeable indicia members.
- The present invention advantageously provides a hat with interchangeable accessary indicia for display about the hat that are selectable and/or tradeable by the wearer.
- According to an embodiment of the present invention, a principal object is to provide a hat with a standard bill or a brim, made of any hat material, the hat includes an accessory retention portion. The accessory retention portion formed with the hat, such as being sewn or otherwise affixed to the outer surface of the hat.
- According to an embodiment of the present invention, another object is to provide an easily customizable hat that can easily and quickly change the logo or other indicia being displayed on the hat. For example, the wearer may want to switch between a logo of a professional football team and a professional hockey team. The wearer may alternatively wish to display a particular number associated with the wearers sport number or the number of a professional athlete.
- Accordingly to a non-limiting embodiment of the present invention, an object is to provide a hat comprising a crown portion having a dome, a brim extending from the dome, and an accessory retention portion creating a pocket for maintaining interchangeable indicia members positioned about the hat, the accessory retention portion receiving the unique interchangeable indicia members for display.
- Accordingly to yet another non-limiting embodiment of the present invention, an object is to provide unique interchangeable indicia members may be received and/or inserted in the accessory retention portion via sliding vertically and/or horizontally, either from the inside of the hat or the outside of the hat.
- Other objects will become evident as the present invention is described in detail below.
- Embodiments of the present application are described herein in which similar elements are given similar reference characters, and a more complete understanding of the present invention, and the attendant advantages and features thereof, will be more readily understood by reference to the following detailed description when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a hat with interchangeable accessary indicia in accordance with the principles of the present embodiment; -
FIG. 2 is a partially exploded perspective view of the hat with interchangeable accessary indicia ofFIG. 1 in accordance with the principles of the present embodiment; -
FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of the hat with interchangeable accessary indicia ofFIG. 1 in accordance with the principles of the present embodiment; and -
FIG. 4 is a front perspective view of a hat with multiple interchangeable accessory indicia about the hat in accordance with the principles of the present embodiment. - The present invention advantageously provides a hat with interchangeable accessary indicia for display about the hat. The present invention contemplates various types of hat styles that may incorporate the interchangeable accessary indicia.
- Accordingly, the system and method components have been represented where appropriate by conventional symbols in the drawings, showing only those specific details that are pertinent to understanding the embodiments of the present invention so as not to obscure the disclosure with details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the description herein.
- Referring now to the drawings figures in which like reference designators refer to like elements.
FIG. 1 shows an exemplary hat with interchangeable accessary indicia constructed in accordance with the principles of the present invention and designated generally as hat “10.” In particular, thehat 10 may be a hat with astandard bill 12 or a brim, made of any hat material. Thehat 10 includes anaccessory retention portion 16. - The
accessory retention portion 16 is formed with thehat 10, such as being sewn, integrated, or otherwise affixed to theouter surface 18 of thehat 10. - Referring now to
FIG. 2 , thehat 10 with interchangeableaccessory indicia members 22 are provided in an exploded view with the interchangeableaccessory indicia member 22 slightly removed vertically from theaccessory retention pocket 20. - Referring now to
FIGS. 1-2 , theaccessory retention portion 16 is formed with the outer surface to create anaccessory retention pocket 20 that receives and retains one or more interchangeableaccessory indicia member 22. Theaccessory retention portion 16 includes a peripheralinner lip 24 that extends at least partially around theaccessory retention portion 16. The peripheralinner lip 24 extends over theouter edge 26 of the one or moreaccessory indicia member 22. - Referring now to
FIG. 3 , thehat 10 with interchangeableaccessory indicia members 22 are provided in an exploded view with the interchangeableaccessory indicia member 22 completely removed from theaccessory retention pocket 20. - Referring now to
FIG. 4 , a non-limiting embodiment provides thehat 10 with alternatively placedaccessory retention portion 16 on both theside 28 and thefront 30 of the hat, eachaccessory retention portion 16 configured for holding the one or more interchangeableaccessory indicia member 22. In the instant embodiment, the accessory indiciamember 22 on theside 28 provides an exemplary number providing customizable hats for sports teams and individual player numbers or other individualized indicia. - In a non-limiting embodiment, the
accessory retention pocket 20 is constructed to receive the interchangeable accessory indiciamembers 22 vertically in relation to thehat 10 as indicated by the exploded views illustrated inFIGS. 2-3 . - In one non-limited embodiment, the interchangeable accessory indicia
members 22 may be tokens to be traded amongst other children, similar to playing cards. - In one non-limited embodiment, the interchangeable accessory indicia
members 22 may be designed with logos, numbers, or other designs for display about thehat 10. - As used herein, when the term “and/or” is used, it shall include all combinations of one or more of the associated described items.
- It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the present invention is not limited to what has been particularly shown and described herein above. In addition, unless mention was made above to the contrary, it should be noted that all of the accompanying drawings are not to scale. A variety of modifications and variations are contemplated in light of the above teachings without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. It will be readily apparent that various changes may be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure or sacrificing all of its material advantages. The examples and embodiments described herein are merely exemplary of the instant disclosure.
Claims (12)
1. A hat comprising:
a crown portion;
at least one of a bill and a brim portion; and
an accessory retention portion integrated with said crown portion.
2. The hat of claim 1 , wherein said accessory retention portion integrated via sewing.
3. The hat of claim 1 , further comprising interchangeable accessory indicia members that secure with said accessory retention portion.
4. The hat of claim 1 , wherein said accessory retention portion includes an outer surface creating an accessary retention pocket constructed and arranged to receive and retain a plurality of interchangeable accessory indicia members.
5. The hat of claim 4 , wherein said accessory retention portion further includes a peripheral inner lip that extends at least partially around said accessory retention portion.
6. The hat of claim 5 , wherein said peripheral inner lip extends over an outer edge of said plurality of interchangeable accessory indicia members.
7. A hat comprising:
a crown portion having a dome;
a brim extending from said dome; and
an accessory retention portion positioned about said hat for receiving unique interchangeable indicia members for display.
8. The hat of claim 7 , wherein said accessory retention portion providing easily and quickly interchangeable change indicia displayed about said hat.
9. The hat of claim 7 , further comprising at least two accessory retention portions about positioned about said hat, each of said accessory retention portions configured for holding an interchangeable accessory indicia member.
10. A hat comprising:
a crown portion having a dome;
a brim extending from said dome; and
an accessory retention portion creating a pocket for maintaining interchangeable indicia members positioned about said hat, said accessory retention portion receiving vertically said interchangeable indicia members for display.
11. The hat of claim 10 , wherein said interchangeable indicia members providing customizable hats for sports teams.
12. The hat of claim 10 , wherein said interchangeable indicia members are tradeable tokens.
