Abstract
A wheeled backpack assembly includes a backpack for carrying objects. A plurality of wheels is provided and each of the wheels is rotatably coupled to the backpack. Each of the wheels selectively rolls along a support surface thereby facilitating the backpack to be transported along the support surface. A handle is slidably coupled to the backpack and the handle is selectively positioned in a deployed position. Thus, the handle may be gripped thereby facilitating the backpack to be rolled along the support surface. The handle is selectively positioned in a stored position.

- The disclosure and prior art relates to backpack devices and more particularly pertains to a new backpack device for facilitating a backpack to be rolled along a support surface.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a backpack for carrying objects. A plurality of wheels is provided and each of the wheels is rotatably coupled to the backpack. Each of the wheels selectively rolls along a support surface thereby facilitating the backpack to be transported along the support surface. A handle is slidably coupled to the backpack and the handle is selectively positioned in a deployed position. Thus, the handle may be gripped thereby facilitating the backpack to be rolled along the support surface. The handle is selectively positioned in a stored position.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new backpack device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , thewheeled backpack assembly 10 generally comprises abackpack 12 for carryingobjects 13 such as textbooks, athletic equipment, school supplies and anyother objects 13. Thebackpack 12 has afront wall 14, aback wall 16 and anouter wall 18 extending therebetween. Theouter wall 18 has abottom side 20, a firstlateral side 22, a secondlateral side 24 and atop side 26. Additionally, thetop side 26 has afirst cut 28 extending therethrough to access an interior of thebackpack 12. - A
pocket 30 is positioned on thebackpack 12 for carryingobjects 13. Thepocket 30 is positioned on thefront wall 14 and thepocket 30 has adistal wall 32 with respect to thefront wall 14. Thedistal wall 32 has asecond cut 34 extending therethrough to access an interior of thepocket 30. A plurality ofpouches 36 may each be coupled to thedistal wall 32 of thepocket 30 for carryingobjects 13. Each of thepouches 36 may have a drawstring or the like for closing and opening thepouches 36. Additionally, each of thepouches 36 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material thereby facilitating the pouches to receivelarge objects 13 such as a basketball, a football and any other object. - A
first fastener 38 is coupled to theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12 and thefirst fastener 38 is selectively manipulated. Thefirst fastener 38 is coextensive with thefirst cut 28 such that thefirst fastener 38 selectively opens and closes thefirst cut 28. Additionally, thefirst fastener 38 may comprise a zipper or the like. Asecond fastener 40 is coupled to thedistal wall 32 of thepocket 30 and thesecond fastener 40 is selectively manipulated. Thesecond fastener 40 is coextensive with thesecond cut 34 such that thesecond fastener 40 selectively opens and closes thesecond cut 34. Moreover, thesecond fastener 40 may comprise a zipper or the like. - A pair of
first sleeves 42 is provided and each of thefirst sleeves 42 is coupled to the firstlateral side 22 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12. Each of thefirst sleeves 42 is vertically oriented to receive a cylindrical object. A pair ofsecond sleeves 44 is provided and each of thesecond sleeves 44 is coupled to the secondlateral side 24 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12. Each of thesecond sleeves 44 is vertically oriented to receive a cylindrical object. The cylindrical object may be a water bottle, a baseball bat, a tennis racket and any other cylindrical object. - A pair of
harnesses 46 is provided and each of theharnesses 46 is coupled to thebackpack 12. Each of theharnesses 46 is selectively extended over an associated one of a pair of shoulders thereby facilitating thebackpack 12 to be carried on a back of a user. Each of theharnesses 46 is positioned on theback wall 16 of thebackpack 12. Theharnesses 46 are spaced apart from each other and extend between thetop side 26 and thebottom side 20 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12. Each of theharnesses 46 may include a first strap that is slidably coupled to a second strap via a buckle or the like. Thus, each of theharnesses 46 has a selectively adjustable length. - A plurality of
wheels 48 is provided and each of thewheels 48 is rotatably coupled to thebackpack 12. Each of thewheels 48 selectively rolls along asupport surface 50 thereby facilitating thebackpack 12 to be transported along thesupport surface 50. In this way theobjects 13 in thebackpack 12 may be transported without wearing thebackpack 12. Each of thewheels 48 is positioned on thebottom side 20 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12 and each of thewheels 48 may be multi-directional casters or the like. Additionally, thesupport surface 50 may be ground, a floor and any other horizontal support surface. - A
handle 52 is provided and thehandle 52 is slidably coupled to thebackpack 12. Thehandle 52 is selectively positioned in a deployed position for gripping thereby facilitating thebackpack 12 to be rolled along thesupport surface 50. In this way thebackpack 12 may be transported into the convention of rolling luggage. Thehandle 52 is selectively positioned in a stored position when thebackpack 12 is worn. Thehandle 52 may be positioned in front of theback wall 16 and theback wall 16 may be comprised of a rigid material thereby inhibiting thehandle 52 from engaging the user's back when thebackpack 12 is worn. - The
handle 52 comprises a pair offirst members 54 and each of thefirst members 54 slidably extends downwardly through thetop side 26 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12. Each of thefirst members 54 has afirst end 56 that is exposed with respect to thebackpack 12. Asecond member 58 is coupled to thefirst end 56 corresponding to each of thefirst members 54 and thesecond member 58 extends between thefirst members 54. Thus, thesecond member 58 is selectively gripped for manipulating thebackpack 12. Thesecond member 58 is spaced from thetop side 26 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12 when thehandle 52 is positioned in the deployed position. Moreover, thesecond member 58 is positioned on thetop side 26 of theouter wall 18 of thebackpack 12 when thehandle 52 is positioned in the stored position. - In use, the
objects 13 are positioned in thebackpack 12 to transport theobjects 13 to school, to athletic events, during travel and for any other purpose. Thehandle 52 is selectively positioned in the deployed position and thewheels 48 are rolled along thesupport surface 50. In this way theobjects 13 are transported without requiring thebackpack 12 to be worn thereby reducing fatigue associated with carrying thebackpack 12. Moreover, rolling thebackpack 12 on thesupport surface 50 facilitatesobjects 13 to be carried that would otherwise be too heavy with respect to wearing thebackpack 12. Thehandle 52 is positioned in the stored position when thebackpack 12 is worn. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (12)
1. A wheeled backpack assembly being configured to be selectively rolled along the ground, said assembly comprising:
a backpack being configured to carry objects, said backpack having a front wall, a back wall and an outer wall extending therebetween, said outer wall having a bottom side, a first lateral side, a second lateral side and a top side, said top side having a first cut extending therethrough to access an interior of said backpack;
a pair of harnesses, each of said harnesses being coupled to said backpack wherein each of said harnesses is configured to be extended over an associated one of a pair of shoulders thereby facilitating said backpack to be carried on a back;
a plurality of wheels, each of said wheels being rotatably coupled to said backpack wherein each of said wheels is configured to roll along the support surface thereby facilitating said backpack to be transported along the support surface;
a handle being slidably coupled to said backpack, said handle being selectively positioned in a deployed position wherein said handle is configured to be gripped thereby facilitating said backpack to be rolled along the support surface, said handle being selectively positioned in a stored position; and
a pair of first sleeves, each of said first sleeves being cylindrical having a circular open upper end, each of said first sleeves being coupled to said first lateral side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said first sleeves being vertically oriented wherein each of said first sleeves is configured to receive a cylindrical object, said pair of first sleeves including a short first sleeve and a long first sleeve, said pair of first sleeves being parallel and spaced on said first lateral side of said outer wall, said short first sleeve being positioned between said long first sleeve and said front wall.

The assembly according to claim 2 , further comprising a pocket being positioned on said backpack wherein said pocket is configured to carry objects, said pocket being positioned on said front wall, said pocket having a distal wall with respect to said front wall, said distal wall having a second cut extending therethrough to access an interior of said pocket.

The assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a first fastener being coupled to said outer wall of said backpack wherein said first fastener is configured to be manipulated, said first fastener being coextensive with said first cut such that said first fastener selectively opens and closes said first cut.
5. The assembly according to claim 3 , further comprising a second fastener being coupled to said distal wall of said pocket wherein said second fastener is configured to be manipulated, said second fastener being coextensive with said second cut such that said second fastener selectively opens and closes said second cut.

The assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a pair of second sleeves, each of said second sleeves being cylindrical and having a circular open top end, each of said second sleeves being coupled to said second lateral side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said second sleeves is being vertically oriented wherein each of said second sleeves is configured to receive a cylindrical object, said pair of second sleeves including a short second sleeve and a long second sleeve, said pair of second sleeves being parallel and spaced on said second lateral wall, said short second sleeve being positioned between said long second sleeve and said front wall.
8. The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each of said harnesses is positioned on said back wall of said backpack, said harnesses being spaced apart from each other and extending between said top side and said bottom side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said harnesses having a selectively adjustable length.
9. The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each of said wheels is positioned on said bottom side of said outer wall of said backpack.
10. The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said handle comprises a pair of first members, each of said first members slidably extending downwardly through said top side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said first members having a first end being exposed with respect to said backpack.
11. The assembly according to claim 10 , further comprising a second member being coupled to said first end corresponding to each of said first members such that said second member extends between said first members wherein said second member is configured to be gripped, said second member being spaced from said top side of said outer wall of said backpack when said handle is positioned in said deployed position, said second member being positioned on the said top side of said outer wall of said backpack when said handle is positioned in said stored position.
12. A wheeled backpack assembly being configured to be selectively rolled along the ground, said assembly comprising:
a backpack being configured to carry objects, said backpack having a front wall, a back wall and an outer wall extending therebetween, said outer wall having a bottom side, a first lateral side, a second lateral side and a top side, said top side having a first cut extending therethrough to access an interior of said backpack;
a pocket being positioned on said backpack wherein said pocket is configured to carry objects, said pocket being positioned on said front wall, said pocket having a distal wall with respect to said front wall, said distal wall having a second cut extending therethrough to access an interior of said pocket;
a first fastener being coupled to said outer wall of said backpack wherein said first fastener is configured to be manipulated, said first fastener being coextensive with said first cut such that said first fastener selectively opens and closes said first cut;
a second fastener being coupled to said distal wall of said pocket wherein said second fastener is configured to be manipulated, said second fastener being coextensive with said second cut such that said second fastener selectively opens and closes said second cut;
a pair of first sleeves, each of said first sleeves being cylindrical having a circular open upper end, each of said first sleeves being coupled to said first lateral side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said first sleeves being vertically oriented wherein each of said first sleeves is configured to receive a cylindrical object, said pair of first sleeves including a short first sleeve and a long first sleeve, said pair of first sleeves being parallel and spaced on said first lateral side of said outer wall, said short first sleeve being positioned between said long first sleeve and said front wall;
a pair of second sleeves, each of said second sleeves being cylindrical and having a circular open top end, each of said second sleeves being coupled to said second lateral side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said second sleeves is being vertically oriented wherein each of said second sleeves is configured to receive a cylindrical object, said pair of second sleeves including a short second sleeve and a long second sleeve, said pair of second sleeves being parallel and spaced on said second lateral wall, said short second sleeve being positioned between said long second sleeve and said front wall;
a pair of harnesses, each of said harnesses being coupled to said backpack wherein each of said harnesses is configured to be extended over an associated one of a pair of shoulders thereby facilitating said backpack to be carried on a back, each of said harnesses being positioned on said back wall of said backpack, said harnesses being spaced apart from each other and extending between said top side and said bottom side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said harnesses having a selectively adjustable length;
a plurality of wheels, each of said wheels being rotatably coupled to said backpack wherein each of said wheels is configured to roll along the support surface thereby facilitating said backpack to be transported along the support surface, each of said wheels being positioned on said bottom side of said outer wall of said backpack; and
a handle being slidably coupled to said backpack, said handle being selectively positioned in a deployed position wherein said handle is configured to be gripped thereby facilitating said backpack to be rolled along the support surface, said handle being selectively positioned in a stored position, said handle comprising:
a pair of first members, each of said first members slidably extending downwardly through said top side of said outer wall of said backpack, each of said first members having a first end being exposed with respect to said backpack, and
a second member being coupled to said first end corresponding to each of said first members such that said second member extends between said first members wherein said second member is configured to be gripped, said second member being spaced from said top side of said outer wall of said backpack when said handle is positioned in said deployed position, said second member being positioned on the said top side of said outer wall of said backpack when said handle is positioned in said stored position.
